I was a former member here. Had my surgery in 09. Lapband by Dr. B. I initially went from 204 to 164 and was unable to lose anything more. In the past 5 months have gone up as of today to 181 lbs. I have an appt. at the end of sept. for another fill. I presently have 6.5cc in my band.. I had one episode of reflux where 1 cc was taken out and the next month put back in, but was still not losing anymore weight so I thought maybe I just wasnt eating properly because I often got stuck and had no relief from pain until I threw up. I therefor had 1 cc taken out again with the hopes that it would help kickstart my weight loss again, Since then I have gone from 164 to 181 lbs. I have'nt given up , but am dissapointed in myself that I just dont seem to be losing. Hopefully in sept. Dr. B will give me some insight as to why I am failing the band. No restriction most of the time. Never get a full feeling. Does anyone have some advice for me. Has anyone else had the same results? I am now back on 4 needles a day of insulin, still on BP med. and lipid medication. feeling pretty discouraged.

Hi Can DO... and you can!!!
I have no real suggestions, but I would recommend going back to your post op diet for a while, Tell yourself you are full... that is what I do, I have not had my surgery as yet. I am still waiting :o( I also have gallbladder problems so I find that I have to be careful not to eat greasy meals and do my best to eat every two to three hours small meals. I have been living off soups and protein drinks and bars. I have lost about 30 pounds and stepped up my exercise. You CAN DO this.... Also I have purchased a book from Indigo called How To Think Like A Thin Person by Judith Beck. It has some real good suggestions, plus I find making myself read (I am not much of a reader) gets my mind off food and it relaxes me as well.
I will be glad to share more if you like. I am not perfect at this. I think my rotten gallbladder has made me feel so bad for so long, I know I have no choice. So now I have no choice but to make this work for me. Perhaps you need to try and make yourself think eat small meals... and think about everything you eat... like I said... perhaps try your post op diet... or perhaps talk with Dr Beausoleil about performing a different operation. I have read the lap band has not been very successful for some people. There is a post in here somewhere showing a link about that. I will look and see if I can find it, I will post it here if I see it.
Good luck... hang in there. This is just a small bump, You can get past this. I know you CAN!!!

If you are having trouble increasing your fill to the point of having good restriction, I would be questioning if there is a problem with the band. I had simillar issues but worse because I would swell to the point of keeping nothing down and in the end my band ha slipped and had to be replaced. In the mean time I gained 50 of 85 lost pounds. A year after having the band replaced I am losing again.
