Biotin? How much are you taking?

 I have been taking Biotin since before surgery, i had to stop for a bit prior to surgery, but have started again about 2-3 weeks post op   They are 1000 mcg, i have read on forums that people take up to 5000 mcg, i ask pharmasist and they said the most they have is the 1000 mcg, so are people just taking 4-5 pills a day to make up to 5000 mcg a day? I've been only taking the 1, and wondering if i should take more as my hair is really falling out since about 2 weeks ago
