Any advise??

New here!  Hoping someone can help or share in some experience or advise.

I have decided to get the Vertical Sleeve done.  My first real step in the process was heading to my docotor today to get my referral for blood work, and an ECG.  My doctor said that because my BMI is 34, that I do not qualify...WRONG!  Second of all she said that medicare would not cover me.  I have plans on going to Mexico to get it done with Dr. Pompa, and she said that because I'm not getting the surgery done here in Canada, she will not cover my post operation.  She said that I would have to pay for my appts with her.  Does this make sense?  Initially, I would be on a 5 to 10 year waiting list if I get it done in Canada, therefore making me want to go outside of the country to get it done.  I'm so frustrated.
Has anyone else had road blocks like this?

Help, I'm so frustrated and dissapointed,
Thanks, Terri

I believe that the doctor is incorrect because people with MS are still covered by Medicare after liberation therapy. She is correct that NB medicare does not cover the surgery here with a BMI of 34....I think it has to be 35 with co-morbitities, 40 without.  I could be wrong because it has been a long time since I  talked about the numbers
