Okay...so I will be having my surgery Thursday morning , May 10...first thing in the morning.....Does anyone have any suggestions or comments that I should know before or know for the recovery stage?? There MUST be a million things that you have found out the "hard way" as far as what works and what doesn't.....The shakes havne't been bad at all....really tasty actually....I find the bars really good too and my kids loved them too, but they don't fill you up as much as the shakes...so here I am the last 4 days with only 6 shakes left, trying to stretch them out as far as I can....but still have 10 bars left...OH well....home stretch is what I keep telling myself....
ANYWAY...any comments, suggestions or whatever are fully accepted....
Thanks for listening...

For me personally, i wasn't prepared for the pain after surgery!
I did have a c-section in 2008 but i found having wls way more painful then my c-section.
But i'm sure everyone is different and reacts different.
All i can say, the first week is not really fun at all, but reall, as each day goes by it gets better!!
Just got to keep thinking of the end results, i am almost 3 months post op and i can honesly say that i do NOT regret having surgery at all!!
I believe this surgery has given me a better chance in life and that i will be able to life longer and healtier life which was the top reason for me having this surgery!
You will do fine and just follow what they tell you to do!!
Best of Luck!!

So I just wanted to do a quick update for anyone who is having the surgery in the next month or so...for me, the pain is totally gas/air bubbbles....but after having 4 babies, (1 C-section) I have to say it is a total new level of pain for me, and quite unexpected...I am really glad I was booked for an early surgery as I can't imagine waiting all day, but even still it was booked for 9:30 and I think I was wheeled into surgery about 11 am.....so that meant I slept the most of the day and didn't wake up really until after 4 pm when Monique stopped in to see me. I was never sent to the ICU Intenstive care unit as they were full, so I ended up up on a regulaar unit....great nurses, but not really sure how to treat us bariatic patients.....When Monique came up, I was finally allowed to have some water and that was good. Except for some reason I totally forgot the rule about filling my whole mouth with water to lessen the amount of air and so I was getting horrible gas pain and spent most of the night burping and with the dry heaves. I did get up and walked 4 different times from 9 pm at night til the morning as I couldn't sleep from sleeping all day.....When Dr B came in about 8:30 he corrected me on the water and things have improved somewhat,,,still getting some air, but much less and very little dry heaves.....I am noticing an improvement just in the last 4 hours or so...
Anyway...My advice to anyone would be,,relax and do what all the vets tell us...walk walk and walk again...then drink your water by filling your mouth and slowly letting it go......and those are my words of wisdom for tonight

I totally agree, walking is absolutely the best thing to do! I also took some Gas X strips with me, they have been a lifesaver. I haven't been allowed any water yet, only ice chips so far, but I believe I'll be allowed to take my sleeve for a test drive later today with some water and broth We should definitely get together sometime to compare notes! Perhaps there might even be enough of us on the Island to organize a small support group :)
