1st appt booked with Dr. B - now a million questions!!
Finally got the call to meet with Dr. B in July!! (Here's hoping he gives me the go-ahead) Now I seem to be obsessed with researching! I only received info on the band from Dr. B's office for some reason...so I've been doing research online on my own. I think I've ruled out the band for me and am now looking at the VSG / RNY...has anyone around here had the VSG? And what made you choose it over another procedure? Any info would be appreciated!
Congrats on your your appointment, I could have written this post! I got a call this week for my first appt with Dr B on June 4th - I've been waiting since 2004! Im interested in VSG. Hopefully both of us will get the go-ahead to continue with this process. From what I've read on these forums, it's about 10 mos from the first call - surgery. Keep us posted, it's so exciting isn't it?!

Congrats to both of you....I saw Dr B in Sept 2011 for the first time...now I am cleared and booked for a sleeve on May 10, ( might have even been quicker, but I was called for a Nov all day session and couldn't make it....did it in Dec...) SO YES there is a light at the end of the tunnel.......
Dr B. told me that the band is better suited for anyone who has less than 75 lbs to lose...and he has actually lost 4 that have done the full by-pass...so he preferrs the sleeve...BUT everyone is different and he will tell you in your first meeting what he think would be best for you and what he reccomends....but good luck to you all...
If anyone is here in PEI and wants to meet up, there are already two of us that are Dr B's patients that would love to get togather and form a group.....gotta start somewhere.....

Cool...so that will mean there will be 4 of us here in Charlottetown all going to Dr B......I would think you may get going pretty fast after your first visit and may get down early in the new year....
Yes my time is coming fast...I have been doing the Atkins plan since Feb just to get bettter prepared for everything...and I start my 2 week shake diet on Thursday!!!!! then I go for my last pre-surgery visit on May 2....last stop....YEAH here we go...but yeah it would be nice to all get togather...the other girl had her's done on Feb 14th..so we are all at differnt stages, but can totally support each other...

Any info would be appreciated!I have been sleeved on Feb 14th by Dr. B. and can honestly say that i have no regrets!
I'm a little over 2 months out (how time flies!!) and am able to ea****ever i want with no complications, just in small quatities that is, but no types of foods has bothered me much yet exept 5 McDonald's fries i had a couple weeks ago!! LOL but i got the craving out of the way and then was fine.
For me, i didn't want the band at all, i heard too many horror stories, and how it's easy to "cheat" your band and other complications.
I wasn't interested in the RNY as i wanted something as normal as possible.
So i choose the sleeve, which there is no rerouting, no foreign objects in my body, and no malnourishment, so the sleeve was a the perfect option for me, to reduced my stomach, so i get full and satisfied faster.
The grehlin is also removed when they remove part of your stomach = not feeling hungry!!
Plenty of GREAT results come out with the VSG/
So those were my reasons for chooseing VSG, at my first visit with Dr. B., he recommended the VSG and was happy as that is the direction i was already going in. So no stress for me in having to decide which was best for me, i already knew.
Any other questions, please feel free to ask or message me!
Happy to hear all is going well with your surgery! Based on what I've read so far, I think I am leaning towards VSG for those exact reasons! I really think it would work best for me because it would take the hunger away and I don't mind eating smaller portions. Plus I'm already a picky eater, so limiting my food options even more seems almost impossible to me. I just hope Dr. B has the same plan for me :)
Thanks for the feedback. If I have more questions (which I'm sure I will!), I will let you know!
