Over night I came down with terrible stomach flu. I have had bout after bout of dry heaves. I was not able to get the Gravel to stay down until 9am.I have just had a juice box  & so far it seems to be staying down.  I know he retching is very bad for my band, but being Sunday the clinic is closed.  Any suggestions ?

Hope you are feeling better by now Kitty - just seeing this now as i'm working nights this weekend. As bad as it may sound - you can buy adult strength gravol in a suppository form. Concentrate on frequent small sips of fluids - rather than a whole glass at a time. An ounce or so every half hour - good luck!

Hi Mary
That end is running too. The suppositories just trigger diarrhea, I almost went to the hospital for a shot. but I tried the pills & they must have stayed down long enough. I am trying a Boost right now, we will see if it stays down. Thanks for the advice.

About10pm I called Tel-a-care. after yet another bout of retching. She told me to go to the ER. I was so afraid I  would be left in the waiting room for hours, but I must have looked really bad because I was taken to a bed immediately. I was put on IV, Gravel by injection & Demerol. I was released at 9 this morning, feeling much better. I am weak but not nauseated.  Thanks for your help & caring.

I have been told that what most people call a flu is not really a flu; when you really have the flu, death sounds like an improvement in your condition!!. I can now  say I have had the flu. I have not vomited since the middle of the night, but I have been flat on my back all day & I really don't think I will be able to go to work tomorrow. I'm so weak. Last night I hesitated to go in because I was afraid I would be stuck in the waiting room for hours, but they put me in a bed immediately.  I guess they must have protocols in place for dehydration, because I didn't see a doctor for hours.
Thanks to my OH family for the support.

Dehydration does not count as a medically advised method of weight loss!!

Good thing you went for treatment.  Take a couple days off so as to not relapse and get lots of fluids while resting ... healthy and nutritious fluids ... I may not be able to drive up there any time soon but you are in my thoughts :)

Thanks Mary & Michelle. To add insult to injury, the scale has not budged!! That is likely because I can't take any medication. I am staying home again today.  I walked out to the car to get something & broke out in a sweet & went weak. No I am not ready to go to work yet.
