To scale or not to scale- that is the question!

Whether t'is better to suffer the slings & arrows of outrageous weight, or to sleep & dream of slim?
OK enough of plagiarizing good Will Shakespeare.  My scale's batteries have been dead since before I went to see Dr B, so I have not weighed myself in a week. (Oh God it seems like so much more than a week!). I think I have lost a few pounds because my pants fit better. I am sure my sugars are under much better control. So do I put in batteries because I am dying of curiosity and take the chance that I will be disappointed & fall off the wagon or not???. On the other hand, I could be encouraged by the results. It has not been easy. for the most part. My band is giving much better restriction, but sugar cravings have been over the top. If I am only down 1 or 2 pounds, I will be disappointed for sure. What should I do??

I have been following all your postings, and I would say NO...wait at least another week and keep up the great work....Ipersonally am doing the Atkins plan and love it for controlling my sugar wants...I have been on it since Feb 25, lost 15lbs and have not had one day of "Oh I want...chocolate or chips or anything!!!" it has been fantastic for me...No bread, rice or potatoes in 6 weeks....and no cravings...It may work for you even just for 2 weeks....

Good luck

Leave the scale battery free - there is a reason they died!!

Instead focus on the fact of how you are feeling the difference ... numbers can be very damaging and do not always reflect the truth - you could be increasing muscle mass and losing inches ... but if the scale shows an increase in weight it will damage your motivation and spirit ... not what you need at the moment!

** Wagging a finger** step away now or I will not be so angellic :)

No need to get unangelic!! I have decided to wait at least another week weigh myself. I have been able to stay away from sugars for a week.  I have passed up anything fried  too. I still snack a bit in the evening, but not very much. This evening I had some chicken. I also walked 5 K,  I think I am doing awesome.  I did my daily plate & I have eaten 1534 calories minus 676 for the walking. I think that is good.

Kitty, I only weigh in at doctor's appointments .. if that's 3 months away, then I weigh in at 3 months.
For me, I'm always super excited when I go to an appointment... I never see a 'stall or a plateau.  The weight loss averages over the months, not moments :)

It keeps me accountable, but not all caught up in the numbers.  I go by how I feel, and know I'm doing what's right for me and my health.

I always get super curious what I weigh the week that I'm scheduled for a follow-up.  That is the only time I think about weighing in, just because of the curiosity.

I don't own a scale, and don't want one right now.  I did measure for awhile, but even that because frustrating, because I didn't like the numbers on the measuring tape.

Don't do anything to sabotage how well you're doing now.  Regardless what the scale says, you're on the right track and you're doing amazing xox

I eventually did weigh myself & I was disappointed in having only lost 2 pounds, but in the following week I dropped a further 5 pounds. I know you are rigth about the scale, but I do own one. I am going to try only weighing myself once a week.  Thanks Carly
