First & most important- thanks you so much for coming to see me Michelle. Your support is so appreciated. You are still an angel.
OK after talking to Michelle I went in prepared to lay it all out. The bad news is I am up 11 pounds since December. I told first the nurse then Dr B all about:
-dieting like a saint in January & not losing an ounce
-gaining weight more easily than ever before.
-being hungry all the time.
-being able to feel full on the right amount of food only when I have something like bread, but then being hungry a short time later.
-feeling totally discouraged.

Obviously Dr B has handled these situations before. He said that we know the band has worked for me in the past, so I am not one of the 30% for whom WLS does not work thru no fault of the patient. Then he said that with the band, the effects on the metabolism tend to be less because of the adjustments. He also said that studies have shown that the success rate for switching to a second type of surgery after the first one fails is about 20%. He said that 20% is not worth risking your like for.  He said that I my band is still too loose, so he added .5cc.  Finally he said that the sleeve or RNY is only effective for 18 months, after that you are on your own. That I did not know.  He offered to bring me back in one month, so I decided to give this band another try. I can do it for a month. I am going to stick to:
-eat  zero added sugar
-journal my food every day. Expect to hear from me often.
-to measure my food.
-to continue walking cross country (35 K in the last 8 days). Dr B actually said that some of the weight gain muscle! LOL
-to end snacking in the evening or for comfort. This will be the hardest one of all.. I may have to make a modification to this one if my sugars go nuts over night.

So wish me luck and expect to hear me crying for support!

Good Luck Kitty, you have always gave me advice when needed and answered any questions I have posted.  I thank you for that. I realize I'm still waiting for my first consult, but if I can help you I will try. Well take care and look forward to hearing about your journey over the next month.

Be prepared to kick my butt. I want to give this one month of strict compliance. If that doesn't work, well I am done. But I have to be totally strict for a month. I am exercising a lot more than I was in January when I went strict for a month & didn't lose weight. I am going to give this 100%  & need people to call me on it if I slip.

Almost the end of day one & I am doing great, struggling, & starved & successful & a failure!!! I forgot to journal- fail. I have not eaten more than I should- success. I didn't drink my water-failure. I walked 4 K- success. I am really starved- expected.  So I am going to list what I ate today & that will fix one failure- I had oatmeal with 1 tablespoon of raisins, soy milk, & hemp heart for protein for breakfast. 2 coffee at the office. 2 Diabetic Boost at work. Supper was 1 Boost, banana, hemp heart, strawberry smoothie for supper. Finally 4 large strawberrys. That's it. I had macaroons with me all day I had made for a sick friend & did not eat one.
Day one= overall a success because I controlled my eating. Yeahhh

Thanks Sunny.
So far today, I have done OK. I had Just Right &soy with Hemp Hearts for breakfast. Lunch was spring greens with 1/4 C mazorilla cheese, hemp heart, dried cranberries & regular dressing (as little as I could get away with) & a banana. I slipped a little & had a small bag of baked chips. Supper was chicken.  I am planning to have strawberries later. I did drink 2 bottles of water so far- one to go.  I also walked 3K along the power lines & there were 4 huge, steep hills.  I always use Nordic walking sticks which burn more calories & gives an upper body work out.. I am going to make some sugar free Jello. Tomorrow will be challenging because we have a nit meeting & goodies will be sitting in front of me all day.

I have been off line for some time and just sent you an email before I read your posts. Sorry things have not been going as well.  I decided just this week to start writing everything done as well as my weight ha**** another plateau. I want to lose at least 11 pounds by June then I will deal with losing another 40 after that. Good job on the walking and eating better.

Sounds like you are doing really well. I hope you have lots of success! It would be a crummy feeling to have things stop working as they had been so I wish you lots of strength while you work through this month.

I have to look up these hemp hearts now... they seem to be very popular in your diet. :D

Hemp hearts are a very good source of protein, but you have to be careful with it because it is high calorie. They have lots of nutritional value, like nuts, but like nuts you can't make a meal out of it.
