It's not the Bariatric clinic that has been cancelled.  It's a clinic where people would go to get support and information on how to exercise, dietician specific for obesity and such...

I am constantly amazed by how narrow minded the government, and perhaps health care in general (not trying to generalize) is regarding obesity.  We have such limited options to help us with our obesity, and now it looks like fewer people will have access to solutions.

I personally waited 7 years for Dr. B to help save my life.  Two heart attacks, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, thyroid problems...you get the picture.  I expect my story is no different then most of yours...so what will happen to the others who were being helped in Bathurst.

Perhaps this is a time for us to be proactive and make sure our clinic does not fall to health care cuts.  Does anyone think we should be writting letters to editors and the government?  Just an idea.

It is so hard to advocate for help when we suffer form obesity because it really is a tabboo subject. We can not kid ourselves the majority of people believe we are fat because we over eat period forget about all the research that has been done. It will take people who have been successful because of WLS and clinics like this to speak up. I congratulate anyone who loses weight but I cringe when I read the cover of people and it says half their size ...no surgery no gimmicks. It really is impleying that those of us who have had WLS are weak and less of a person . Sorry for the venting but my lap band has changed my life I am not aiming to be a super model ...I am aiming for quality of life.
