thinking about VSG

I have had my referral in since march 2009 with Dr. Savoie, and I'm still waiting for my first consult. I know on PEI they will cover all the cost for VSG, but only pay some of lap band..

Yes it is covered...we don't have a WLS on PEI so we get referral ed to either NB or NS. all surgery except lap band is fully covered.

and in NB as is stands right now, VSG is covered if you are referred by your family dr. not sure about the other types of WLS

Iv'e heard of dr in NS but im in NB not sure if covered there or how can get it covered

I'm wondering if someone in NB can get referral to NS dr for surgery & it still be covered, wasn't sure medicare would cover it province to province.  I heard it wasn't.

My referral was sent in December of 2008, first consult in May 2011, signed consent papers the day of my first consult.  Going for my tests tomorrow.  Not sure how long until surgery once the tests are done but hopefully not terribly long.

I live in NB and the VSG is fully covered if your family doctor has sent a referral.

If you are going for your tests then your surgery date should not be that long after.  I went for my tests last month and my surgery is scheduled for Nov 24th.  Sounds like you are on your way.
