Boost vs the other protein drink
The boost is alot cheaper {goes on sale alot} then the stuff you order from Quebec that dr b wants you to have. But the stuff from Quebec also comes in bars.
It was a personal decision for me. I cannot stomach Boost. I had to drink that and Ensure when I had my jaws broken and I cannot do it again. I had some problems with Boost. It made me nausous. It was the hard metal taste that drove me nuts. I had to drink this longer than 2 weeks though.
I selected the Rx chocolate shakes, vanilla shakes and peanut butter bars. Each are under 250 cals so basically I will be consuming just over 900 calories a day for 2 weeks.
I am hoping for a very Detoxed non-fatty liver and to lose some weight before surgery.
I used the Meditrom from Quebec for my first surgery & a combination of Diabetic Boost (it has more protein than even the Plus Protein) & Slim Fast for the second surgery. I lost more weight the first time, but I had been on reduced calories for 2 years for the second surgery & I was heavier the first time. The thing about the Meditrim is thatsome people like it but others can't stomach it at all. I rather liked it, especially the bars. ...I have to scat to work.....
4 Diabetic Boost per day
All the water you want, some can be Crystal Light.
And that's it. Not even gum.
It was hard. Halfway was probably the worst. I can't stomach Diabetic Boost anymore, but enjoyed it pre-op. Vanilla was my favourite, chocolate once in awhile, and strawberry tasted like liquid antibiotics to me.
As mentioned I started my pre-surgery liver shrinking fast with the products from Quebec. I must say that they are really good. I actually am surprised at how good they are really considering they are supplements. The peanut butter bars are sinfully good as are the shakes. It is hard to believe that these are healthy and fine to eat.
For me it was the right thing to buy these. I can stomach two weeks of these. I will say that having only sweet things to consume for two weeks will wear on me but it sure beats the metallic and heavy taste of Boost. I am not anti-Boost but for me it made me want to puke each time I drank it. It really did not settle in my stomach well. It is good that Dr. Savoie offers options to his patients. From what I have read about others they are much more restrictive.
Yesterday was my first day and I was not hungry at all. I drank alot of water which helped.
