I am hearing that there is still a very long wait period.  Is it the same wait period for dr savoie as for dr beausoleil?  And am I right in thinking these are the only two dr in nb that do this surgery?  What if I have had my referral with dr beausoleil for two and a half years and switch to dr savoie?  Does my wait time start all over again??  So many worries!  At 42, I want to get this surgery behind me and work on losing weight now!

I have been on a wait list with Dr. Savoie since March 2009. When I called the clinic a couple of weeks ago, the clinic is working on the referrals from February 2009 so I shouldn't have too much longer (except I am told that Dr. Savoie is trying to catch up so referrals are at a bit of a stand still).

Times seem to vary. I met a woman last year who only waited 10 months and others have been years.

As far as I know the only bariatric surgeons in N.B. are  Dr. Savoie and Dr. Beausoleil.

It may seem like a long wait but I know that the 2.5 years has gone by fast...although it can get frustrating at times.

hi there and welcome,
i was on dr beausoliel list first for a few years and then switched over to dr savoie.  i had to start from the first again..so in total i been waiting since 2004.
i had my first consult last month and was told prob 12 months for surgery...and one is already gone by :o)

he said that there is another dr willing to start the surgeries with him but they have run into some governement road blocks and shortage of ER time so for now its just him in bathurst and dr beausoliel in moncton.

i also have signed for the sleeve

If you qualify to have the surgery, VSG is covered by Medicare entirely.  The lapband is  partially covered.
