Hey Carly, pardon me for asking this delicate question but when you mention the gas issue are you referring to the burping kind?  I am so glad to hear of your experience, as are others, so again keep us updated.  I also appreciate hearing from Trish as well.  For me having this input really helps with my anxiety and tempers the fear of the unknown.  Believe me when I say I can handle pain... I had my jaws broken without painkillers two years ago and many other painful oral surgeries since so I think I can handle the pain side of this.  I just don't like unexpected surprises and just want to be informed about what to expect and what is normal just in case something unexpected arises. Hearing these testimonials is refreshing and makes me feel like I have tangible hope for better health.  I have felt so trapped in this body despite doing the best I can for such a long time. I love hearing about others in the same situation who have taken this step towards their health and well being.  Best of luck to you on your journey!

 Hi Run --
The gas I was speaking of is the gas they use to inflate your stomach during the surgery.  Walking post-op helps relieve that gas.  It does take about a week or so to get rid of.  I'm still fairly swollen, and have heard that takes up to 3 weeks or so.
All of those reasons, I'm not weighing until my 6 week check up : )  Then I'll be pleasantly suprised I hope.
I can go into more detail one on one, if there are any questions you have.  I tried to keep it brief on here, because the post was lengthly with just the short version.
Feeling trapped in your own body is a horrible feeling.  I'm 7 days out today, going into my 8th day post-op -- and I honestly feel really quite well.  I have one spot on my left side under my ribs that hurts a lot -- but I sneezed 3 days in a row -- and it didn't hurt until then.  Every day, even that one spot eases off just a little.
I have no pain today that couldn't be managed with extra strength tylenol -- just regular over the counter stuff.
You'll do really well on your journey : )  You have nothing to fear.
Dr. Savoie and his staff gave me my life back.   I'm forever grateful : )
