Emotional Fat
Well for the past couple of months (thanks again Kitty Mom) I have been keeping a journal on my food intake and how I am feeling. I know that I need to address the emotional fat otherwise WLS will not be successful for me.
Things I have learned in this process is that I know how to eat properly but why I eat and when I eat were two areas that I avoided. I don't know why but so far everything has been falling into place and I am starting my journey even before the surgery. I am down 15 pounds now with only putting the effort into grabbing a pen and paper, taking a moment to reflect, and writing down what I am thinking when I want to eat. It is a very thought provoking process.

I remember this post, and a few others that Kitty has suggested. They're like a warm, loving.. swift kick in the ass :P Seriously though, the journal is great advice Kitty!
JJWBuster -- You're brave to address these concerns prior to surgery. Think of how much relief this will give you post-op once you've conquered the how and when you eat.
I think it's an amazing way to heal, keeping a journal makes you accountable. Taking the time to write it makes you think if you really want whatever it is you're reaching for.
For me, I know it would help with the mindless eating -- just for the sake of hand to mouth... those moments when you've polished off something, and didn't think you've eaten it and never had a taste.
Congrats on your weight loss and your realization! I'm glad to see that this suggestion gives you rewards in all the right places!
