What gives?

I have been posting here for 3 years plus.....I think...It could be more. Anyway, I have never seen the board so quiet. What gives?  It used to be that after someone had a surgery everyone would be falling all over themselves with questions & support. I really don't need the support this time like last time, but this board was more like a bunch of friends, Now it is more like a group of almost strangers.  Maybe this group doesn't need the support  & I am totally out of line here- it wouldn't be the first time. I may just be missing the old group because I am home alone & have been since I came home.  I do know that this board can be more like a chat room & everyone on it felt like friends. We got each other through some rough spots. So I am not just going to be a complainer, without say suggestions, I am going to post a could of 20 questions post.....or ten question- 20 sounds like a lot. It will be the next new topic. Let the games begin!!!

i agree it does seem to be quite quiet.
i have only been a member since early this year and am so disheartened of late because the surgery i have waited for 7 years for might not be covered come the fall when im scheduled. i guess that is why i really dont have anything to say but your right, we have to have a support system going whether your new or old or waiting for surgery or post.
i do have one question to start,
i know when it gets close to the surgery date, you all had to go on a 2 week protein shake diet, i was thinking it had something to do internally to get you ready for the surgery, but in reading past posts lately im not so sure.
do you know the reason this is done?

Yes, It is done to shrink the liver. Most of us( probably all of us)  with a high BMI have fatty livers. A fatty liver is swollen & delicate (easily damaged in surgery). The diet works like the Atkins Diet- it forces the body to run out of stored carbs & start burning fat for fuel. By burning the fat in the liver it shrinks it & makes the surgery much safer.  Now that is the explanation that I have pieced together & I am pretty sure it is the right one. If my BMI had been lower, under 40, I would not have had to do the diet again. I think that is why didn't have to do the diet & I did. I am glad I had to do the diet because it started me burning fat & I needed that encouragement. The first time I did the diet I got the prescription food from Meditrim, but this time I used Boost. The results were about the same, I think. I didn't mind the diet near as much this time as the first time. I think that is because I have starved so many times in the last 18 months that I am accustomed to it.

 i`m still here & yes very quiet.I think everyone is either out of patience or discouarge  or maybe trying to keep fitness fit .I`m trying keep exercise and less on computer.but i till come visite the site..trying to a answer question going and trying to keep track of everyone..I`m at my last two months..Dr Savois said two months so hope its going to happen if medicare don`t stop paying .If it stop well I`m going to keep trying on my own i guess,i lost 14 pound so far..but its not going fat but it betterthen nothing...i went for my sepports meeting last month.so that went well .So i`m getting nervous..Charlene will i have a little angel. i hope u be mine..lol u are the only one i speek too. Oh by the way is it going good for the letter to the minister of health ..lets talk about that,,write back

Hi Karmy- The letter is almost finished. It is hard wriitng for someone else. i will send it to you tonight or tomorrow. Let me knoe what I need to change & I will write the final verson.
