Here we go again.

Well, I thought that reducing my band by half a cc, things would be better......Tonight I had a very chopped up meal of veggies & pork roast with gravy to add moisture. i don't think I eat fast & the pieces were small because I chop it up before I eat anything. Well, by now you know what I am going to say. When I finished eating, my stoma felt like the food was not going through. I waited a few minutes & nothing changed. I didn't feel like the food was going to come up, or even stuck, but like it was sitting there. I decided to have a coffee to relax my stoma & help things move along. Two sips of coffee & my saliva started flowing. I ran for the bathroom & up came most of my supper. I was very stressed today (there should be a license for having children) and I am hoping that it was a reaction to the stress. Back I go on liquids. Very frustrating.

Hi Kitty just wanted to add my sorry you are having such a tough go of it. I hope you get things worked out at some point. i have to tell you, you have my admiration for not giving up and for trying. Thinking of you...Trish.

Scully I just wondered if you have been on the lapband forum and revision forum to see the % of band folks who have had success with their bands. Have you considered another type of surgery at all. I am not try to persuade you otherwise at all, these problems Kitty is having seem to be a very common story on here is all. All the best to you for sure. ..Trish

I would have a revision, but Dr B does not do anything but the band on people over 55. I was 55 by the time I had surgery.

Hi Kitty - I know the band and the RNY are very different - but - to this day - if I am stressed out - it's just as well for me not to bother to try to eat at all. 90% of the time it won't go well. Which sucks if you really need to eat at the time. I discovered this  very early out. Take care and better days ahead girl!

I know that stress is a problem, but I have a very, very stressful job. I am 3 years away from retiring, so I can't change my career now.  However, I have had problems when I was on vacation.  I have to believe that better days are ahead- the alternative is a waste of energy. That doesn't mean that I don't have bad days ( some of you have read my posts on those days).  My current bug-a-boo is wondering if I have a hernia. My problems started when I flew to Europe to see my daughter in Sept 2009. I had a small bubble that expanded & made my band too tight. There was nothing I could do about it in Europe. It was 10 days before I returned home & a few more days before I saw Dr B. At the time there was no reason to think any damage was done. Looking back, I realize that I had great restriction in July & August 2009 & I have not been just right since. I am either wide open or too tight. Dr B is finally listening to me & he is doing a fluoroscope in about a month.
Thanks for you good wishes everyone!

You are so right. I am still a supporter of this surgery, but someone has to be the one it doesn't work for. I  am 2 years out & down 50 pounds. In the fall I re-gained about 30 pounds. My weight is stable now & I have even lost a few. I have not given up.

There are times I wish I had had a choice of surgeries. Oh well, I just have to work with what I have.
