Does Medicare Cover?

Yes Medicare covers surgery in NB. The criteria is a BMI of 40 or if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, or any condition secondary to being obese, the BMI drops to 35.  Let's just pray that the government does not cut it as abudget saving measure.
You won't hear anything for years, not until it is time for your first appointment. The current wait for Dr B is 5 years plus & they say the wait for Drs is 2 years, but I don't believe it is that short. I would call both doctors to ensure they have you referral- they have been lost and others were never sent.

I just found out this morning I am on the waiting list to see Dr.Savoie.  It may be another 2 years until my appointment but so glad the ball is rolling.  I certainly hope they don't cut that from their funds...I really think this surgery is a necessity for some people and it gives hope and a new life.

I have  been on Dr. Savoie's wating list for a year and I called just before the Holidays and was told probably 5 years and possibly more because they only do 2 surgery a week and the list is getting very long.
