Scarry Experience

Last night I ate some potato chips and got stuck. My stuck espisodes look simething like this: the something stuck in the throut sensation and severe pain in my left side. The pain goes to my back and I actually thought I had kidney stones at first. They are extremely painful and the only relief is to "unstuck". I was a desperate woman so I grabbed an enveloppe of Eno; that worked wonders for me before surgery, so I figured it would do the same now.

I knew that Eno was on the forbidden list because of the fizz, but I was desperate. I mixed up the Eno and down the hatch. I did not manage to get it all down. I could feel it fizzing in my throut, but it was also blocking my airway as it mixed up with the chips I guess. I could not breath for what seemed like a long time, but likey only a few seconds. Something finally gave way and I literally gasped for air. My 10 year old was home with me and she came running to the bathroom and ran back out cause she got scared. I was shaking for about 15 minutes afterwards.

Just thought I would share my experience with you in case any of you like me, get tempted to reach for the Eno!

You must have been terrified Jet. I can't even imagine!! I don't think any of us weightloss surgeries are supposed tro take ENO. I don't recall ever being told not to but the fizzing is awful. As a R N Yer I cannot swollow very fast and I think it is trhe same for all of us so we tend to smother on the fizz. Although it was scary I'll bet you will never di that again.   Sorry you had such an awful experience to learn that.   But really Jet, who knew?

I knew that any carbonated liquid is a no no because it could enlarge the pouch. I never imagined that it coud potentially choke me; lesson learned though.

Sounds very scary Jet - whoever said this WLS stuff was easy obviously hasn't had it. I vomited the other morning after I ate something and did not take the time to chew, chew, chew. It hasn't happened to me in such a long time. I guess I needed the reminder. Glad you are feeling better. Take care!
