Update
Hi everyone! I know it's been a very long time since I've posted, but I thought I would post an update.
I had lap band surgery last October (2009), and am now down 135 pounds. I still have about 50 pounds to go, and they seem to be the stickiest, but they will come.
I will be honest - it has been a pain in the @ss. I am extremely sensitive to each fill, and have had one emergency rush to Bathurst for an unfill. I'd lost 11 pounds in 3 days, and was having horrible reflux. I couldn't even keep water down. I had all .5 removed, and this past fill I had .25 put in and THAT has kicked my butt.
I am unable to eat until early to mid afternoon - before that time of the day nothing stays down. This has been very awkward, and has meant that I need to be super vigilant about taking vitamins, and doing my best to get the good stuff in me later in the day. I am unable to eat after about 8, or I will have reflux all night long. This is a relatively new development, and I'm hoping that it's because this last fill was a little tight and it will eventually work itself out.
I am at 6.25 cc's now, and can't imagine having another fill for a very long time. Maybe Spring - but who knows? Right now I'm just trying to cope with this level.
I have upped my level of exercise exponentially, and really encourage you all - especially those of you who are stalling, or for heaven's sake- gaining, to get your shoes on and do something active. It just makes sense.
This has been a very difficult path for me to be on. On the one hand I am glad that I made the decision b/c I'm lighter than I have been in about 15 years, but on the other hand sometimes it gets so aggravating and upsetting I could just cry. I hate having people eyeball me or my plate, and comment on how little I'm eating. But it is what it is, and I'll get over it :)
Keep your eyes on the prize, and do everything you can do to keep active and positive. The band will not do it for you.
Take care!

Hi stranger
Great to hear from you. As you may have noticed, a lot of the old gang no longer post, but there is a new crop.. I have had about the same experience with fills up until the fill before last. Dr Roy (Mrs Dr B) put me on a pill to coat my stomach I take before meals & doubled my pantoloc too. So far 2 have gone in & stayed. This is a first since Oct 2009. I have make 2 trips to emerg & the first time I got 2 idiots that knew nothing about the band. The Dr in the ER X-rayed me & said there was no blockage & I could go home, so I chugged a glass of water & promptly threw it up. Then the radiologist TOTALLY emptied the band- including the prime they put in at surgery. That is dangerous because your band can move. I was not impressed. The only good thing about being too tight is that you lose weight, but I have always gained about 10 pounds after an unfill, so the net loss isn't worth it.
Thanks for the update

The one thing I've learned about being too tight is that it doesn't necessarily mean you lose weight - in fact, I stalled for 2 months when I was too tight b/c I was eating small amounts of crap that a) went down easier, but b) was higher in calories. So, it all evened out. But that's just my experience. When I got a grip and cut out the crap, experimented with foods that would go down, and started exercise the scale just JUMPED in the opposite direction.
I have found recently that I can't drink dairy. Now this is really REALLY gross, but I'm gonna tell you anyway! :) When I drink dairy it "curdles" in my stomach and comes up...in chunks. Told you it was gross. Apparently this could be an issue with acid; my solution has been to significantly reduce my dairy so it doesn't happen. Small sacrifice I guess.
The whole thing is a huge adjustment, and I wonder sometimes if it will ever even out and be at least remotely predictable!!

Hi Anitalyn, long time no hear. The reflux must be awful. I had R N Y so never have reflux but iI keenly remember heartburn from my bigger days. You sound like it is working for you or you are working it? Like you people always stare at my plkate too, Can't win for losing I guess. When you are heavy they stare and when you only eat a little they stare. lol

The reflux IS horrible, t hankfully it hasn't been that bad this fill - though I can't eat or drink a few hours before bed. I should probably take a tums as a preventative measure, though...
You're right - everyone has something to say about how much a person eats. You'd think they'd be better off focusing on their own plate!!
