Roma- Day 1
We just arrived at the hotel in Rome about half an hour ago. We left the house yesterday at 11:30- that is about 28 hours....I am ready for bed. It is 6 hours later here so it is bedtime either way you look at it. We didn't get much sleep on the way over. I usually can sleep almost anywhere, especially if I am tired enough. I did get an hour or so at Heathrow. I wish they didn't stick arm rests on the benches!! We got on every flight we had planned on. We also navigated the Metropolitana (subway) & bus system to get to our hotel. It is a long way out from the center of the city. Tomorrow we move to a hotel near the Vatican, but they were full for tonight. i have always been told that Italians in Italy are rude (or appear so), but I have not seen that today. Everyone has been so helpful, even when not asked. A man carried my heavy suitcase up a couple of flights of stairs without being asked. They have gone out of their way to be helpful.
It is bed time for this Chicky, I hope I have Internet tomorrow!

I am back! WOW- what an amazing holiday. Jet, I did shop for shoes in Rome. I spent so much money I may have pushed back my retirement by a few months or more! I can't begin to tell you all about it. Now that I am home, it seems like a dream. I find it hard to believe that Sunday I was on the Grand Canal. I will post a few pictures.
