My Appt on Sept 1st
First of all let me just say it was 44.7 degrees with the humidex in Moncton that day. Holy Crap!!! However - Mom and I still managed to get in some shopping after my appt before heading back to PEI! That was a no brainer. Dr. B. is very happy with me except for 1 thing - my Hgb is 107. I though that was good - becasue I had been feeling not quite up to par last month and had blood work and it was 104. Last year before I got sick -my Hgb was 136. Following last summers surgery - I seemed to have more trouble with constipation - so only went back to taking my ferrous fumerate 2 times a week. I was also taking it in am - in the same time frame as my coffee and 1/2 of a small whole grain bagel. Not the way to get your iron in. Dr. B. felt that given my low Hgb and age (what???!!!) - an endoscopy and colonoscopy to rule out any other causes for my low Hgb would be prudent. He offered to book it up there - or I could get it done at a hospital around here. So - I am going full steam ahead with my iron - and taking it in the evening with vitamin c - and being very concious with my eating and trying to get my hgb back up where it should be. I don't really want to have a date with a long lighted insrument entering my body - no matter which end it is. Dr. B. had me see Rinette as well - who gave me tips about the iron also.
Sadly - Lise is retired. I really missed seeing her there. It was always like seeing an old frined. The nurse I saw was Lisa - quite pleasant and friendly. Froom what Rinnette told me there are 3 different nurses seeing the baraitric patients at present and it's not working out all that great. Since Lise left - I guess the hospital politics are playing a part in getting the position filled. Rinette and Dr B. hope to get a meeting to get members of the bariatric surgery team in position - so they can work as a team again.
That's it! Had fabulous weather when I was up last week - left the day before hurricaine Earl. Hope none of you got blown around too much. Take care!
