Game On!!
Well, I have decided that today is the day I do away with vacation indulgences. Started my morning with a power packed smoothie. This breakfast is now low in calories at 428. What this smoothie is, is full of nutrients. I have my dairy covered in the soy milk and yogurt. The blueberries and banana cover my fruits. The majority of my calories, 314 to be exact, are from the 5 TBSP's of hemp hearts; these are my protein and essential oil sources.
A lot of us are still in diet mode, counting calories. I am not suggesting to just mindlessly consume empty calories, but rather opt for calories that will give you the most bang for your buck. Breakfast as we know, is the most important meal of the day. What we eat in the morning sets the tone for the day. By consuming my high caloric smoothie in the morning, I have all day to burn off those calories that are fueling my body.
Since I am experiencing stomach issues, I will drink V8 to cover my veggies; a bit high in sodium but we have to pick our battles I guess! I will likely have a snack of 2 fresh apricots with a light baby bell cheese later today. Dinner will be veggies and a protein; I try not eating carbs after 3:00.
I am not saying that this formula should be adopted by everyone; we are all different and have different needs. I simply am saying that if we are simply counting calories, we will miss the boat. The lifestyle change is the key to success; embrace it and run with it and be amazed at where it leads.
I have shared this because I believe we need to celebrate our success. Yes, this is a great place to vent; people here have known similar struggles therefore have an understanding of what pre-op and post-op life is about and that is fine. If I or someone else has had success with something to assist in this journey, why not share that as well?
Everyone's jourey is their own; the path you travel may or may not be the same as mine. The important thing is to enjoy trip! Have a great day everyone!

I agree with you Jet. Although I had different surgery than you I still count my calories every day. I don't sit with pen and paper anymore but I have a pretty god idea of the calories I consume daily. I strive for 1200 to 1400 calories each day. That sounds high but I find if I go too low, my metabolism slows down and it take forever to get back on track. If I stay on a lower calorie diet and if I eat 1200 i will start to gain so I maintain 1200 to 1400. So far so good. I can easily maintain this intake, Unfortunately I cannot tolerate breakast early in the mornong so i will eat 2 egg omelet and a piece of fruit around 11 or 12 and that covers both meals. I have never been able to eat in the mornings my entire life. Makes me feel nauseated. Always has.
