HI!  My name is Denise. I  live in Dieppe. I am new here....I had met whitneyb1999 on July 20th at the George Dumont hospital. I over heard her talk about Dr. Beausoleil....and so I introduced myself to her. We talked for well over an hour....She told me about this site and we exchanged emails. I am so glad that I got to meet someone else who is going through this as well!!
I had my date planned for aug 24 but because my red blood cells are very low, Dr. Beausoleil and my family doctor are worried. So now I need to get a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy on aug 12th OH WHAT GREAT FUN..I am not looking forward to that. If all is well then I get my surgery in Sept. Keeping fingers crossed!

Hi Denise and welcome you to this site. it is really lovely here. We are all either waiting for surgery or have already had surgery. You will meet some really wonderful, helpful souls here who will be only too happy to offer sound advice, wellwishes, ideas and if need be, a good swift kick in the backside. I know you will be glad you came here.

How long have you been waiting for surgery?

The colonscopy and the gastroscopy does not sound like fun but if there is a problem, best to sort it out now before you get into trouble. I have read several times where people have had problems and it was not discovered until the went for pre op tests and it was found and taken care of then. Hopefully your low red cell count will turn out to be something simple and not delay your scheduled surgery.

Hi marymother! Thanks for the kind words and hugs! My surgery has been canceled but I am hopeful that by early Sept I will have had it. Wow I am loving this site eveyone is so cheerful and so welcoming I feel at home here! I will stay in touch for sure. Just having my husband to talk with helps but there isn't the understanding of what this feels like to go through it. Don't get me wrong my husband is the best. But talking to someone going through this is GREAT!

Hello Denise I am glad to see that you have gotten on this site and have posted....I have been thinking about you and the tests that you have to go through, and like Maggie says it is a very good thing that they have found out now then later.  You have very good doctors looking out for you and they want only the best for you and the outcome of your surgery.    We are all here for you to listen to and to help.

Hi Beth! Great to see you again! Been thinking of you and wondering how you are making out on the shakes and bars? I know they want the best for me and I am glad we found out now and not when it would be to late! When I first told you about it I was upset I had just found out that day and still didn't process it. So we will see.What happens.

Welcome and congrats on being so close to joining us on the loser's bench! The site is not as active in the summer, but most of us check in frequently, so if you have any questions. Did i see that you are having a VSG? Not many here have had that procedure (mostly because it was not an option) but a couple have and would do their best to answer your questions.

 Hi Kitty_mom! Thanks for the welcome its great being here I am loving this site so glad I met Beth and found out about this place! It's great meeting everyone as well. Understandable not many people on in the summer it's to be expected. I am having the sleeve done at first Dr.Beausoleil was going to do the bypass but decided against it he said he was getting great results with the sleeve only. He said IF something happens that I don't loose enough weight,then he will consider doing the full bypass. We will see 6 months to a year after the sleeve. What did you get done? I can't wait to be on the losers bench. Well talk soon.
