eight more sleeps until sleeve day
GM Everyone..
I have been enjoying reading everyone successes and thier journeys for a better "us"..My surgery date is July 30 and as it gets closer I am more and more nervous. I will be so glad to have it down and get on to losing weight..
The liquid diet has been brutal and the hunger pains so intense. I find it difficult to work 12 hour shifts on only diabetic boost and water, but am getting used to it somewhat. But, I will be on other liquids after surgery and when real food is introduced, it will be fun to chew again..haha
I head back to Moncton in 2 days for a short visit at the bariatric clinic and a weight in. I know I have lost weight on this liquid diet. My co-workers have noticed already, which makes me feel it's all worth it.
This site is a great outlet for us all, to post or success and frustrations
I simply can't wait for the 30th to get here!!
Sherri!

Hi Sherri I am Trish and so excited for you. I to am having the sleeve and was told that it would be fall for my surgery. There are six sleeves ahead of me I guess! So if you don't mind me asking when did you sign your papers? How long have you been waiting since your referral, just curious as to the timeline. Wow only 8 days that is wonderful, tell your nerves be quiet.. if you are like most of us here it has been a long wait and I am sure you are more than ready. All the best, keep in touch and we will be watching for updates from you. Blessings Trish
Hey Trish...Thank you so much for the warm wishes..To answer your question..My first meeting with Dr B was Jan, 2009, and was told my surgery would be March of that yr..well, March came and went and finally got a call to sign my papers May 19th 2009, with a summer sugery date. Well as you can tell it didn't happen last summer. I called every few months, and there was one reason or another that hames weren't moving fast on the list..I called again in April of this yr, and they had even misplaced my name and couldn't believe I had signed my consent a yr earlier..I waited til the first of June and called again, this time getting a pre-op work-up date for July9th and a surgery date for July 30..I'm just holding my breath that nothing will delay it..But please don't get discouraged..If you haven't heard anything in 6 weeks, i would call them. And if Dr B`s office doesn`t know why the delay, then call the bariatric clinic at the hospital, the nurses are excellent and really helpful there, if they are there to answer then phone..You will also have an 8 hr orientation day as well, which is very informative..Dr B tends to cluster his surgeries together, like all by-passes for a few months, then sleeves for a few, then lapbands..So keep on them and don`t let then forget your name..I will kepe you posted..I head to Moncton tomorrow morning for a final weigh in, then surgery next week...I am anxious to see what weight I have lost on this liquid pre-op diet..It`s brutal but people are already noticing the weight lose and I feel better already..I am looking forward to a variety of liquids post-op, as right now there isn`t much I can have and am super hungry..Let me know if you have any more questions...Blessings to you Trish..And add me as a friend if you like!
Thanks so much Mary and Jaceline..I am getting really excited now..
To answer your question Jac...You can order a special meal replacement to have delivered to you, the clinic provides you with order info, or you can opt for diabetic boost from the local drugstore or grocery store, which I opted to do, it was a little less expensive, although the advantage of the ordered replacement is that they have some in bars so you have something to chew....I got groceries yesterday as I have a 17yr old son who still has to eat, hahaa...and the bill was very low..makes me realize what I was eating..But on my way to a new me soon, and best of luck to you as well..I`ll keep posted!!
