I wish they would train the nurses at the bariatric clinic to do the fills, I was in the first of this month, but didnt feel I needed a fill, today I called for my next appt. and was unable to get one until sept. due to some personal things going on with the doc. I have the utmost sympathy for him, and totally understand, but gee , why arent the nurses being trained to do these fills? This is the only thing I dislike about the lapband, never feeling secure that if I need a fill I can get one in a timely manner. What do all you think about having a trained nurse do your fills?

It makes absolute sense and I can't exactly wrap my mind around why Moncton wouldn't allow them to. My Surgeon's nurse does fills, in fact she's the one who did my last.

It would defintely help with wait times that's for sure!

Hi - Don't have the band - but can certainly understand your concern about the availability of someone to do fills/unfills in a timely manner. I imagine Dr. B. prefers to do the procedures himself because as a physician - it's him who makes the determination of the amount to put in or take out. Not that a nurse couldn't be trained to do it - but if he's not there to make the call - who decides how much to put in or take out? I do understand your frustration though.

Nurses ARE doing fills in Moncton; they have done mine on several occasions. Might be that the trained ones are on vacation; tis the season after all.

The nurses do fills in Moncton, but the doctor must be available in case of problems.

I stand corrected, talked with Dr. B's office, and found out the nurses are doing fills, but if your lapband is new, the doc prefers to do the fills, in case of unforseen problems. Makes sense.

When I went for my first fill Dr Beau had the nurse try , he was training her than unforautle for me my prot had flipped on its side and neither she nor he could do it and now I need fluro each time. Maybe they gave up on having the nurses do it at this time as Lise is out and they have a couple of casuals filling in.
