I think the point is to find a level of restriction that is good for you. I don't believe the *goal* is to have as much of your band filled as possible. Everyone is different, and as the OP said, as you lose weight you may NEED to have more restriction ... on the other hand, I know of people who have stayed put at 6 or 6.5 for the entire weight loss.
This may sound like a silly question - but can you tell me why you feel jealous that the OP has more cc's in her band? Isn't the goal to find a restriction that is right for YOU at your particular stage, and go with it until you need another fill? I'm currently at 6.0 and honestly, am perfectly fine here until the time comes when I NEED to get another fill - which might not be for another 4 months or possibly longer - this restriction has seen me through a great weight loss, and is showing no signs of needing an adjustment. If you are restricted well at 5.5, enjoy it! :)
