"Tummy tuck

Hi there,iam thinking about talking to the DR about the tummy Tuck.I know they said after one year and have to lose about 100bls before they do it.

Just like to know if anyone had it done and how long are you off work for,amd are you happy you did it.Thanks

I had a tummy tuck June 4. Everything is doing well BUT it's not a piece of cake. I had nothing to pay at all. Medicare covered everything except muscle tightening but my surgeon made it.

My time off work is 8 weeks. I have a sedentary job but my iron is very low.

Keep me updated. When did you have your lapband and how much did you have to lose before he did the tummy tuck?

Which doctor was your plastic surgeon? Did dr B refer you to him? i ask because Dr B said he would refer me for plastic surgery if I had made 170 by august. I was under the impression that you had to have really bad skin sores to be able to get the tummy tuck for free.

I also thought you had to have shin problems that could not be aleviated by medication. I also want to know which surgeon did your tuck.

I have lost 100 pounds since my Lapband 2 years ago and 50 before for a total of 150 pounds.  I'm not at my goal weight BUT I'm at the weight I fell good. If I loose another 20 pounds it will be great but if not it will be ok too. My belly was huge. Dr Skanes took pictures and send them to Fredericton with a report. They approved me for the whole thing and I'm very pleased with that. She took off 11 pounds of skin and fat. I had an Abdominoplasty with muscle tightening and some lipo.

I met a woman in the support group in Moncton (everything second Wednesday of the month). She had the same procedure par Dr Howley and she had nothing to pay either. Another one had to pay $ 3,000 with Dr Skanes. Medicare paid for the panni and not for the Abdominolasty and the muscle tightening in her case. Each case is different so the best thing you have to do is to consult a surgeon to see what he or she can do for you and at what cost. I know Dr Skanes don't take any new patient for the moment but Dr Howley do and he is very good.  Your family doctor have to send a reference to the sergeon and if you want my advice don't wait to reach your goal weight to begin the process because it can take years to see him.

Hi, I had a full tuck in Nov 06.  With a breast reduction at the same time.  I had lost a bunch of weight rather suddenly due to extreme stress two years previously, and the apron that was my belly kept getting yeast infections in the fold, was often cracked and sore.  I was back to work just after the Xmas break in 07.  Bout 5 weeks, and playing mukluk soccer a week after that...lol...what fun!
I saw Dr Haswell in Fredericton, and he is absolutely incredible.  I've had a couple of friends who also had BR, and TT.  He took 12 inches of excess skin from my belly.  You can hardly even notice the scars anymore, he is very much a perfectionist.   Both procedures were covered by my health care provider.  I am so glad I got it done, dealing with those infections, and the smell, in my line of work, was not fun.  And although I've put weight back on (I'm a yo-yo, still waiting for my WLS), that particular problem has never resurfaced...thank goodness. 
He has a long wait list tho, about 1-2 years for those being covered by medicare, ect.  Like all, if you want to pay yourself, you can get it done sooner, within 3-6 months.

It has a really great forum network, and lots of before and after pics, and is really helpful for putting that "realistic" spin on to any procedure you consider.  It goes through everything, and you can get both sides of the stories...the good, along with those who have had issues, problems, ect.  The site is international, tho there are quite a few canadians on there...I've met a few...!
