I am not from New Brunswick but lived there for a while a few years ago.  I had a lap band in September 09 in Ontario, self pay.  I would love to chat about weight loss and issues if anyone is interested.  My name is Rita and I have lost 45lbs so far.

Welcome Rita. I had RNY but there sure are a lot here who have had the band. All are doing well with a few bumps along the way.

Congrats on the 45 pound loss so far. Wonderful!! You sound as if you are on the right path.

Kitty mom will say hello to you for sure. She had the band. She has been a continous sorce of support, info and help to all. There are a lot of wonderful warm souls here. Any and all of them will share their experiences with the band with you. You picked a good bunch.

Well New Brunswick is near and dear to my heart!  Congrats on your huge success, I certainly hope I am on the right path now.  It is definitely a learning curve, but I am getting there!  My daughter says I look like a kid playing dress up now because all my clothes are hanging off me.  I never thought I would be pleased to hear something like that but I was thrilled.

Welcome Rita. This is a great board. We are a small group so as the weather  improved the chat goes down some, but if you have a problem or issue we pop out of the woodwork!

So I was on the board today reading older posts and I was following your journey!  I am amazed at everything that you went through to get to this point and I take my hat off to you.  You must have been ecstatic when you finally had the surgery (haven't got that far in the posts yet).  We have similar issues in Alberta, which is why I chose the self pay route.  I called the SWLC on Sept. 3/09 and my surgery Sept. 30/09, and if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't change a thing!  It was worth every penny, the clinic put me in touch with Medicard Finance and I was approved for the loan the next day, after that everything went so quickly.  I never had time for doubts or anything like that.  I do have a few questions if you wouldn't mind, but I am kind of short of time right now, I just want to say that you are an inspiration to any of us that have wanted or hoped for this surgery.
