finally losing again

well ,its finally happening, I am starting to lose again, and I believe its because I started taking a tbsp of Metamucil in a glass of water, x 3 daily. It has helped with the constipation, although not as well as I would like, and it seems to curb my appetite somewhat. I really believe that if your bowels are not moving well, that the weight loss will stall. At least that is my experience. I am going to talk to the nurse at Dr. B's clinic when I see her. Maybe he will prescribe something more effective that could be taken long term with no side affects. Am down to one needle of Lantus insulin at night, and my sugars are good. I do worry about this lantus though, since the Canadian Health dept. has put out an advisory that they are looking into a study that says it is a carcinogen. Anyone know anything about this ?  Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement, I feel I am back on track again, so yea!!!!!!

Dr B recommends Senocot (spelling is a guess) for constipation.
Glad to hear the weight loss has resumed. We all experience that lose and stall pattern. I think it is just the body's way of compensating for the fat it loses by hanging on to fluids, Then it decides that you are not starving or something and the scales start dropping. I know how frustrating stalls are, but the reality is that if we stay the course, we do lose in the long run.
I have no restriction at all right now & have given up fighting the hunger and am striving to remain stable. Thanks to all the walking (& not eating right I confess) my fat % had dropped and muscle % has increased. Two % has switched from one to the other.
I am enjoying being able eat anything without fear of getting stuck, but I  am anxious to get my next fill in 3 weeks and hopefully have restriction again. Not only am I looking forward to losing weight, I hate hunger pains. It was so nice to never feeling really hungry.

Thanks, Kitty_mom, do you need a prescription for senocot?, is it a pill , or powder?.  I hear you about needing a fill, my next one is may 10Th. I always look about in the waiting room for familiar faces, but thus far have not seen any. But if anyone recognizes me , please stop and say hello, would love to chat.

No it is over the counter. It is a very small pill. I would ask the nurses about how long you can take it or if daily use is OK. My next fill is on May 13th, so I will miss you by 2 days. Where are you from? i travel a lot...perhaps I go your way from time to time. We could do coffee.

Metamucil will make you fill full because of the amount of fiber it contains you need to be careful though with a lapband I did not think we could have it in liquid form. Wehn are you going to moncton I am there on May 15. I joined weigh****chers at lunch as Rinette said it would be a good plan to follow to make sure I am getting all my food groups I am waiting for a call back though because I am really not sure if I am suppose to count points and keep all other band rules or do points and stop at max 1200 cals LOL. I think I heard about  a study coming out soon about Lantus but I have not seen anything yet. I will keep my eye open in the helath journals we get at work and I will let you know if I find anything.

I just got a call this am, and my May 10th apt. has been changed to may 13th. She said Dr. B got some more or time, thus the need to re-schedule. I stopped in to a pharmacy today and talked with the pharmacist about metamucil, because I had concerns about its thickening properties, and he said to try the benefibre, it doesnt thicken, and can be put in any liquid or soft food, and will not thicken, will be great in coffee, or porridge or even soup and vegetables. So, I am going to try that. All is good here, and I am adjusting to this lapband, quite well. Hope you are doing fine, too. Thanks for the info

glad to hear that there is something that can be used I never had a problem with constpation until the band and I have taken senkot (pill) every once in a while but would rather take a natural fiber. Bowels are funny and gte dependent on laxatives.
