Yep. Diversify!!

I went to Sobeys and Superstore and found wonderful package soups and had a great time trying out new soups. i tried and loved the box type Red soup. It had red peppers and tomato soup. I tried almost all of the box soups. I loved the summer squash soup, carrot soup  and the pea soup. I still buy and eat those. I also used to eat cream of wheat cereal for breakfast. High in iron too.

For snacks I tried and loved the sugar free Popsicles and the sugar free orange ice cream sticks. I lived on the sugar free Popsicles. All of the other liquids tasted gross because I had developed a fungus infection in my mouth so without the Popsicles. I'd have been lost. I love G2 drinks as well. 60 calories per big bottle.

I am now lactose intolerant so all forms of milk is off limits and I can't stand the taste of soy or rice or lacteeze milk. I bought lacteeze pills but they were expensive and still the milk didn't taste right. I can eat soft serve chocolate ice cream about once a week now. This is something new for me.

Angela, did your doctor give you a booklet with food ideas in it. If not I can try to find mine and you can have that. Can't promise for sure if I can find it because I moved last fall but I can look.

Hey Angela- I dont remember the first lil while - its all blur but I do remember cream of wheat cereal it was easier than straining oatmeal and early in the morning I did better with warm food rather then cold.

I did diabetic boost with lots of ice - I also got beneprotein to add into my soups - I didnt tolerate protein shakes very well in the beginning but Angela I do know the more protein you can get it - it does aid in your healing -  the more protein the better - when I could get my protein up it gave me way more energy.

I am not sure at what point I added it in but cottage cheese is high in protein and can be flavoured with davinci syrups or I just will use a fruit flavour of crystal light - I used an immersion blender and whipped it so there was no chunks - in a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese you are getting 15 grams of protein - again not sure what stage it can be added in but when  you whip it like a mouse its pretty light-

I hated cottage cheese all my life and then when my mom said to make it fruity like yogourt it was great!

I eat it everyday still even now - its great when travelling cause I can usually get in a restaurant and I always carry my crystal light.

If you go on the main board for RNY you will get lots of suggestions but try to follow Dr C's post op menu/suggestions.

Good luck -you are doing great - be sure to stay hydrated - I got dehydrated a couple times -  not fun.

hugs
deb

Funny Deb should mention cottage cheese and yogurt.  In my entire life I hated both but since rny I eat both every day. I add a 4 ounce fruit cup to 4 ounces of cottage cheese everyday for at least 1 snack.

I ate a ton of apple sauce.  I used to blenderize bananas and strawberries, I also loved (still do) the banana mixed jars of baby food.

I carry packets of splenda with me all of the time. My friends don't always have it so I carry my own.
