Concerning Info on Dr B
Angela
Every surgeon should explain this to their patients prior to going under the knife.
The stats are low of course, but surgery is surgery and no matter what kind it is and there is always a risk. Which I think is the reason behind the consent papers - does anyone actually read that btw? I do not remember what mine said AT all.
Losing a patient is not something that is always attributed to a surgeon's skill. Most times it involves a underlying condition which neither the surgeon or patient were aware of and that was not found during the pre opt testing.
I have a hard time believing that someone had a heart condition and did not tell Dr. Beausoleil. After all you are refered by your family doctor who should provide the surgeon with your medical history. At least that's what my doctor did when she sent mine to Dr. Savoie. He was already fully aware of my medical conditions beforehand and I didn't tell him anything except maybe what mg of meds I was taking for what condition.
All that to say though, no one should stress themselves thinking about that. It's harder when it's elective surgery but the benefits ouweigh the risks, trust me.
Think positive and visualize the new you :)
Positive thinking will get you everywhere you want to be in this world.

Hi there ladies, I have been busy since my last post. I actually had my appt on March 18th to sign my papers. At that time Dr. B was informing me of the risks of RNY and told me he had just lost a patient. He wasn't allowed to tell details(perfectly understandable) but did say she was young, healthy(outside of obesity) and the surgery went very well. He said she died two days after surgery. He strongly encouraged me to have the sleeve, a much safer surgery, with less risks. I had a blind moment of panic because I hadn't seen that coming and didn't know what to do. Thank goodness my lovely sister was with me and she had had gastric bypass in 07 and has done well. she asked if I could still have the gastric bypass and he said yes, that it was his job to inform and not persuade. so I am having it and still very excited and have full confidence in Dr. B. I figure that whatever went wrong he will be extra careful to watch for from now on. So that is what happened while I was there. Oh yah and they told me it would be 4-6 months b4 surgery.
