Good news for some, bad news for others

I called Dr. B's office today to make sure they had gotten my referral.  The bad news for me is that his receptionist told me that he has stopped booking appointments for consults for at least 3 months.  The good news for others is that the reason he is doing this is so that he can get caught up on his surgeries.  So if you are waiting for a consult, might as well tack another 3 months on to your wait and if you have had consult and are waiting for surgery, your call might come soon.  While I am pleased for those of you waiting for calls for surgery, I am very discouraged for myself and for others like me :(

Wow....I am sorry to hear the wait for you will be longer and can't wait for Dr. B's office to call me for my next step in the process of getting my surgery....I know it is very frustrating trust me I have been there and had my referral sent to Dr B back in 2005 and in the mean time I had to see an endocrinologist for a year prior to medicare approving me for the surgery but since then you no longer have to go through that process so that at least takes off a year before Dr B even gets your referral...it is never easy that is for sure having to wait for the first call for your consult....When I had my consult with Dr B which was back in November and being in with him for all of maybe 15 minutes tops but waited 3 hours or more in the waiting room just to see him that day...when I finally got in to see him he said to me...that the hardest and longest wait is over and that was to get that initial consult with him. I know it is very discouraging for you and others...as I have been there for almost 6 years....I had my second appointment at the hospital in February for the all day information session and the team that Dr B works with say the next step will be at least 2 even possibly 3 more appointments before the surgery...so here is to hoping I get a call for my next appointment for my pre op assessment and go from there...

Please be patient and know that good comes to those who wait...and this group here is great for support and a shoulder to lean on and ears that listen...remember my dear we have been there as well and some still there...My grandmother always said to me that patience is a virtue sometimes I wonder but I know there is always going to be a light at the end of that darn tunnel...keep your chin up and your spirits..we are here for each other.

Hugs
Beth
