Had good day with the Dumont Crew

Went today for my 1 year visit with the Dumont Crew. All of my blood work was good. Had really good meeting with Rinette and she told me how to handle any further hypoglycemia episodes. I needed that advice. She's great. My vitamin D test results will not be back for a couple of we
 
Saw and talked to Carolyn. She is such a sweetheart and she is so patient. I wonder how many times she gets asked the same questions?

That wonderful man Dr. B. said I had done well and he will see me again in 6 months AND he said if I lose 10 more pounds by then he will send a referral to a plastic surgeon for me. Can you even imagine?? I am so excited, I could just poop!!  10 more pounds! He said I should continue to lose for another 5 or 6 months yet.

BTW, I asked him and he does proximal RNY. I got a copy of my O.R. report. It is french but I am still able to get the gist of it.

Hate to have all this good news when poor Angela has such bad news.

That is good news,And going to see a plastic surgeon.I asked Dr S when I went last week about that and he said only after 2 years.So Iam going to talk to my Dr and maybe get on a list as the list are long.Keep up the good work

Yeah, I seem to remember him telling me too that plastics were done only after you had reached goal and maintained that weight for 2 years. Maybe he had me confused with someone else. I am still 10 pounds from goal. we shall see. I didn't ask him about plastics, he mentioned it to me.

Yeah. it is interesting. I worked in the OR years ago so I could almost close my eyes and see the surgery while I was reading the report, even though it is in french. I saw so many.I coud almost see the positioning and the draping.

Thats great news Maggie....dont worry about me, I'm coming around, I know its for the best.  So would the plastic surgery be paid for?

Well Angela, scuttlebutt is that the panni is covered by medicare but everything else is self pay. The woman whi I talked to in Moncton last year said she had lost a lot of weight but the plastics surgeon wouldn't do just the panni and she had to come up with 5 grand on her own to do the whole stomach area. I don't know if they all would want to do that too. As for me I no longer work so I have absolutely no money so if it isn't covered by medicare I cannot have it.  The reason Dr. B may have mentioned it to me is because I now have skinny arm, legs, butt, neck, face and back. The only thing I have big now is my stomach area and my apron is huge. Everything else is within normal limits. I look quite strange with a skinny body and a huge gut. LOL

I felt bad posting something good when you had such a bad day Angela. I am glad to see you are getting your head around it. Must have been quite a blow. It's only 14 more days or so. You will get through it. Must be good to be able to eat something even if it is only a small portion. After surgery small portions will become a way of life but the payoff is so worth it.

I think that the penectomy is covered by Medicare if you have taken off 100 pounds and have maintained that for 1 year. I have 36 pound to go. Medicare only covers that part of a tummy tuck, nothing above the waist. I have been told that you must also have some kind of problem associated with the penicula- that is spelled phonetically..... I will definitely have a problem...even if it takes sandpaper!

Yes that's what I heard too. I asked my family doctor and she said there had to be a skin breakdown problem but Dr. B didn't mention that.

I do have skin breakdown there. I had 3 abdoiminal surgeries years ago and each of them followed the same scar line. I have a wide scar that runs from my belly button to my pubis. It is red itchy and excourated. The skin under my apron is raw and sore too. Having many many hot flashes a day does not help with the moisture under there. Every hot flash starts the itching and discomfort  anew.

I started this at 293 and I hit 193 this past Aug so if I see him again in Aug and I have not gained then I will have maintained 100 pound loss for 1 year. Fingers crossed I will not regain.

:LOL, I said the same thing about the sandpaper but once the apron got soft and hangy, it became incredibly sore. I just hate to have to wait so long to get it fixed but I am not complaining. I am just too happy with the weight being gone. Scratching one's arse has a lot to be said for it  and has never felt so good. LOL 

Hi Maggie, thanks for the info on the plastics, we dont talk much about that piece of all this.  My dqte is April 14th, so its 6 weeks away not just 14 days...I wi**** was though
