I'm heartbroken.....

I just received a call from the office assistant, Mary at Dr Christou's office in Montreal.  She told me that the anesthesiologist at the clinic was reviewing my file and is uncomfortable with putting me under at the clinic.  Where I have respiratory issues, he felt that if something happened that the clinic would not have the crash team to bring me back.  Mary says she is scheduling me for surgery in the public hospital but not until April 14th....I'm so disappointed.  She wants me to continue with optifast for 2 meals a day and one small healthy meal until then.  I can't believe this!  4 days before I leave!  I know its for my own well being but I am so sad and almost feel embarrassed...I shared  this with friends and family and receved so much support now I feel like I cried wolf..........

I'm so sorry for you Angela. I don't know what to say. I'm sad. Life is not a rose garden here is the proof.

I know how you must feel and I can't imagine what you must've been through to prepare your life like this...   Keep a good spirit and you are right that it's for the best.   Everything happens for a reason and sometimes it only realise it after.

Oh Angels, and you worked so friggen hard.  I am so disappointed. I can't imagine how disappointed you must feel. This sucks! They might have told you this 3 weeks ago. Christ on a friggen crutch!

My love you have NOTHING to feel embarrassed for. My god,  this was not your doing. They had all of you information. It was up to them not you. 

Oh well I suppose there is nothing to be done for it ,but to do as they say. This past month went quite fast so I suppose the next 6 weeks will go as fast. Now at least they allow you 1 small meal. Some consolation.

Hang in there Angela. We are all still standing firmly right behind you!

NO NO NO Angela - do not feel like you have cried wolf. And please believe me - if the anaesthetist was not happy to put you asleep in the clinic - well- although I can imagine your disappointment - please be glad there are competent proffessionals out there who make decisions like this in order to get the best outcome for you. When I first read the topic for your post - I thought you were cancelled altogether - but so relieved it's just a post-ponement. Doesn't help how let down you are right now - but the time will fly and your day will come! It will! And you are doing so AWESOME in the meantime! And - the more weight you do drop before your surgery, the easier the surgery will be for both you and the surgeon. Chin up girl - we are all rooting for ya!

Hey Ang,
I found out the reason to my question .... I am so so so so sorry to hear that your surgery was postponed.. BUT!!.. Its not cancelled.. I will tell you what I ended up being told after my surgery.. It took the anesthesiologist & nurses over 20 minutes to wake me up.. (the max 5-10 mins) and also that the 3 weeks of optifast that I did; did not change a thing!!.. My liver was still very large and the surgeon was on the verge of canceling the surgery while they worked on me as it was extremely difficult and challenging.. I am soo glad and thankful that in the end the surgery worked together for the good -  and the surgery was finally successful. But the surgeon truly feels that I should have been on the optifast allot longer!! be/c of my high BMI.. I must say now that I know this - I conqure.

As disappointing as this may be; count it all joy that there there are medical professionals that can make such sound & wise decisions.. Your life is that important!!.. You are soo worth being saved..

Hey you.
I know you're disappointed, but this is actually very very good news.  You definitely want to be safe, and you want to feel like you trust the judgement of your surgical team.  6 weeks will go by very quickly, and hey - you can add a meal now! :)  Safety first.

I feel for you. Chin up! I have my first consult on that day so lets wait it out together.

Hey....any chance you can get this covered by NB medicare, now that it will be perfoemed in a public hospital?
