Crappy work day...

I mentioned in my 'quote" post I had a crappy day...thought I would say why...lol...

I got the date I have to do my BFT for work.  Friday, March 26th.   I was hoping to have had my surgery and have about 40 lbs off before I had to do this (back when I signed my consent in September, I was hoping to have had my surgery completed by Xmas), as my feet and knee joints haven't been the best in the past year.   I'm afraid I will fail this one this year, I've put it off as long as I could, our unit did one in June, and October, and this is last one for this fiscal year.  Come 1 Apr, we have a year to do another one.

Oh, BFT stands for Battle Fitness Test.  Its a 13km walk carrying 54 lbs of gear...in 2 hrs, 26 mins.  Plus a 100m firemans carry and trench dig in 6 mins.  I've done it before being heavy, and usually had no issues other than massive blisters, a few lost toenails, or hamburger feet, but my weight is catching up with me as I get older, and the pressure on my body is crazy.  Not to mention 15 yrs of combat boots which create their own issues...

I'm too young to be falling apart yet...!!!  LOL.

Oh crap - BFT! I have memories of both of the whole of Robert's fore-foot blistering off when he did his BFT last May. He did not prepare his feet properly - and I had no idea there was any type of prep he should do for his feet or I would have harrassed him until he did it.

Long story short - he ended up in the ER - had debridement and dressings done - and then to the MIR (as it was called then)- every couple days and light duties for a few weeks. Helaed well - but he was pretty  miserable for a while. The day after the BFT was his 21st Birthday. Needless to say - he wasn't able to go out celebrating as he had planned. Lesson learned. The hard way.

Take it easy and you can do it - I know you planned to do it as a much lighter person -but as you know - **** happens. Take care!

PS - The fountain of smartness - we could use one of them in our ER waiting room!
