Hi all - Has anyone here who has had lap-band surgery, ever went to Herbal Magic???  I know, I know, you are all asking "WHY WOULD YOU?"  LOL  But there is a method in my madness.

Not a dumb question at all Carolyn.

Herbal Magic? I just googled Marketplace and watched the segment on Herbal Magic. Sounds like a money scam to me. Look at it yourself.  Holy moses 5 to 8 thousand dollars a year? That's a Florida vacation. LOL

As for going to weight loss centers i believe quite a few here go to either TOPS or weigh****chers for the support and guidence because these two places focus on sensible eating plans which is what you need even after weight loss surgery. These two places are not overly expensive and do offer support and encouragement if that's what you need.

I wish you all the success with whatever you choose to do. Best of luck! (((hugs))) back at you.

Thank you so much for your input ladies.  They say they have a "band friendly" program, but I'm just not seeing it.

Have a great day.

My mom went to Herbal Magic.  She did ok.  For me, I wouldn't even think about it.  No way I'd want to take THEIR supplements.  No idea what's in there.  Also, if it's not close to your home, you're spending lots of time and gas money just to get there...you have to go for a weigh-in twice a week at least.

I worried about my mom too because a few times when she didn't drop the weight they wanted, they even gave her a mild laxative so she'd drop a few "pounds" for the next weigh-in.  That to me was just not the correct way of viewing it.

She had a very strict list of what she could and could not eat, nothing canned at all, no salt, but their seasoning spices were ok (tasted horrible too).  She was taking anywhere between 4 to 8 supplements a day.

I just think it's not very realistic to go there.  They help you drop the weight by keeping things strict, but what about after?  Are you spending thousands on supplements for the rest of your life?  If they were vitamins that you can buy anywhere I wouldn't have an issue....but they're not.

It's just my opinion...some are probably very successful or they wouldn't still be in business.
