I'm New!

Hi Everyone

I am waiting for my first appointment with Dr. Savoie for lapband Surgery.  Any information you all think I should have before starting my journey would be very welcome.  Thanks for any help u can give me!

Welcome Leanne. Glad to have another weight loss soul. This is a great board.  There are quite a few folks who have Dr. S as their baratrics doctor so I am sure they will be here soon to offer you some advice.  How long ago did your Doc send in a reerral to Dr. S?  I don't know how long the wait is for Dr. S. My  surgeon  is Dr. B.

I see that you had your surger done by Dr. B.  I have been on the waiting list since 2007.  How long did you have to wait?

I waited almost 5 years. I have heard that his office has contacted some people who's first contact date was 2007. The wait is shorter since the arrival of Dr S.

I am new too!  So new in fact that I haven't even called Dr. B's office yet.  It is the first thing on my To Do list for tomorrow.  I was curious as to who Dr. S was and here he is located.  I am excited but also frightened of the long wait.  I hope my enthusiams can last that long.

Dr Mark Savoie (be careful there are 2 by the same name) in Bathurst. He started doing surgeries about 10 months ago. Depending on what surgery you want, his wait is shorter. My advise is do lots of research, then forget that you are even on the wait list (after you insure they got the referal because they have been known to go missing).   I got active here about a year before surgery...I wish I had waited a little longer, because you can drive yourself crazy by focusing in something you an't control too soon. You will still go crazy, we all did or do....you are just crazy for a shorter time.

I am hoping that by joining and reading about all the success I will be able to maintain my enthusiam.  I am trying to look at the wait as an opportunity to make the life style changes necessary to ensure succes..
