What about all of the DS waiters?

I couldn't get to sleep last night. When that happens, my mind wanders to all sorts of strange places. Last night it wandered to Dr. S. and his DS waiters. I read awhile back that he won't be doing DS for awhile yet. What is all of the DS waiters doing in the meantime. Are you guys waiting for him or seeking to go elsewhere for the DS? I can't even imagine how it must feel to be on that list and to learn this. I really feel for the DS waiters.

Iremember calling Dr. B's office backonJune 72006 and was told I was number 1010 on the waiting list to see him. I believe Natalie said it might be a 7 to 10 year wait. Self payers were being done fairly quickly. I couldn't self pay. I remember thinking it was hopeless and I'd never get surgery.

Hey Maggie I was actually waiting for the DS with Dr. S. When I found out he wouldn't be doing that surgery I turned back to DR. B who's list I had been on since Aug of 2007. So when I called it was actually my turn. I have a friend who was also waiting for the DS and has since decided to get the Sleeve with Dr. S. He will be starting those soon I believe. Unfortunately I couldn't afford a self pay or I would have been heading to the nearest DS doctor!! I am looking forward to my RNY now though and anxious to get started.

Thanks for replying trish. I was really wondering. You have decided on RNY? It sure took a long thinme to get into Dr. B. Now you are on your way. Do you think you will be happy with RNY? I am but it is a personal choice.

Yes it is the most aggressive surgery that Dr. B does and because of my higher BMI I personally wanted that. I was a bit nervous at first to switch to the RNY and can't honestly say that I am without my misgivings because it is so different than the DS would have been. You Mary's and some folks from the main board have gotten me excited with your success though and so now I am very excited for a tool to help. I am wondering how long to wait before I call the office and see when I should sign papers though. Any ideas. It has been a month since my all day session. Thanks

Hi,

I am one of those DS waiters who hasn't even been in for a consult yet.

I was the one who was told by the secretary that he won't be doing DS for quite some time yet, and the VSG will be starting soon.  I'm sure others were told this but I remember the wind being knocked out of me when I heard it.

Once I get to see him, whenever that is, I'm going to see about the VSG.  It's the first part in a two-step DS anyways.  So maybe when the DS starts I'd be able to get the switch part done.

I guess there are a few possibilities but I'm waiting to see Dr S. first.

I'm so happy for everyone's success.  I am very thankfull to have met some of you and hope we can have another meet-n-greet this coming Spring.

That being said, my outlaws errr...in-laws are flying in today so my morning coffee break is over...

Have a good weekend everyone!

I have also been put back by the news of Dr. Savoie not performing the DS any time soon. So I am looking into other surgeries (RNY) I still want to have a consult with DR.S to see what my options are to have the DS done or not?  Same old waiting game.

Talk to you soon Stephanie
