There was an internal specilaist coming from Halifax to try and pick up some of the pts waiting to see docs in fredericton. I hope the milatary comes through for you.You are wise not to use the medicare number hugh fines and potential charges for fraud. Take care of yourself . I felt like it took forever 4 years but when it started to move it moved fast.

Yes, that why I told him no, that I would seek the pre-approval proof first...silly me!!!!  LOL

Worse comes to worse, I may take a 6 week unpaid leave of absence (break my contract, as a reservist, once I do that, I automatically come back under the medicare system).  But I don't want to have to do that.  I don't think work would mind, not having to pay me for 6 weeks, we are in such a budget crunch right now, they are cancelling posns, courses, and jobs faster than I can blink.  But its something thats played around in the back of my mind.

I'm going to call the office on Monday, and just inquire as to the expected waiting period for the Internal dr...

Cheers all

May be none of my business - but please think long and hard before you break your contract. Once you do that - it may be hard to get back in the force. Just thinking. My RNY was paid my MCP - our Newfoundland Public Health Care Plan that everyone here has. I had my first consult with Dr. B. a year after it was sent. And surgery was two years later. So it was a wait. But - - it doesn't really matter who pays for it - as long as he knows he will be paid. I had approval for my RNY to be paid by MCP BEFORE I even sent my consult off to Br. B's office. I know waiting is hard. Take care and keep at the peeps in the offices of your docs and Dr. B's appts. Squeaky wheels DO get the grease! Good luck!

Its definitely a last resort for sure.  Tho I would still be "in" the forces.  It would just be an LOA (Leave of Absence).  I would still have my job to go back to, as I'm a good worker...they would love to promote me, especially after topping my Sgt's course last spring, however, my job is rank specific, and if they promote me, I lose my job.  Such is the life of a reservist...sigh...I've got my eye open for other posns too.  I'll be leaving it in a year or so anyways, as we will be posted.

I haven't even talked with Dr B's office since I signed my consent in September.  Maybe I should give a call and touch base???  Let them know what I'm waiting for...I wonder if this set back puts me way back on the list for OR time??  I haven't really been all that squeaky...LOL
