All you can eat buffett

In almost a year I have gone to a restaurant maybe twice and both times I ordered soup and it was fine. Well yesterday my sons and I were in Moncton and they wanted to go to an all you can eat place. Ponderosa to be exact. I was reluctant because I can not eat very much but they had their hearts set on it. So I went thinking this is going to be a waste of money but it was not.

I went to the buffet and took a small bit of a lot of things. I returned to the table and ate 1 bite of everything on my plate. Then I went to the buffet again and did the same thing. By the end of the meal I had taken a bite of a lot of different things. Only 1 bite but that was enough. I left not feeling stuffed or even full really. It was great. Better than pre op really when I would have had 2 or 3 plates heaped up with food and would have left feeling sick because I was so full only to feel hungry again an hour or so later. Last night I was not hungry all night. It was the best experience I had at an all you can eat buffet in my life. I will do it again when I get a chance.

Funny because this time last year I was getting ready for my RNY surgery and thinking I would never again go to an all you can eat buffet and would never again eat those foods. I was wrong. I can eat those foods only a lot less of them and can enjoy them even more than before.

To be honest though there are quite a few foods I have not been able to eat but that's alright. I don't miss them at all. Except pork. LOL

Good for you!!!!

Isn't it grand when you can have an accomplishment like that and feel so good about it?

I will be faced with an all you can eat buffet every day for 10 days on my upcoming trip.  I will manage I am sure so long as I remember my portion sizes and my need for protein.  If I focus on that I will be fine.  I will remember your story here and it will help me keep on the straight and narrow.

Thanks for sharing,
Ann

Ann, I have absolutely no doubts that you will do fantastic. I know how you are so aware of what you eat. But love this is a vacation for you. Don't sweat the small stuff Ann. Go, enjoy, live, laugh, eat. Worry about the small stuff when you get back. Don't miss the culture and the foods that help make up that culture while you are there. It would suck to look back 10 years from now and say to yourself "I went to LA but didn't try the ----(fill in the blank)--- because I was afraid of gaining a couple of pounds. You can always walk an extra 10 minutes a day to make up the difference when you get back. HAVE A GREAT VACATION ANN,  LOVE. We will all be here when you get back to hear all the details.

P.S. Could you fit me into a suitcase and take me along too? Just asking.
