is 1200 cal enough to support weight loss? any thoughts?
I am not hungry but everything I know and everything I read tells me 1200 cal is not enough cal and in by reducing my intake to this amount I will actually slow my metabloic rate down and drop the pounds more slowly, I mentioned this at my last appt and was told well you can eat 1500 cal. The logic is not there for me.
My question is 1200 enough my weight has not changed one ounce since last week.

I do not count calories. My breakfast is the same each morning: 1/2 cup plain yogurt with 1/2 cup blueberries & 5 TBSP's of hemp hearts. My breakfast alone is about 500 calories, but is my major fuel souirce for the day. I have a fruit & a protein for snack, or chocolate milk if post-exercise, another fruit-protein combo later on and supper is usually vegetables like spaghetti squash with tofurkey sausage or homemade soup.
I make sure the ingredients I am putting in my body are natural. I don't do processed foods, eat very little meat but lots of legumes like lentils, beans, etc.. This works for me. I have found that Ryvita Snackbread is a great bread replacement. Last night I had it with some fresh, homemade guacamole.
I am not suggesting that you or anyone else copy what I am eating. You need to find what works for you, I exercise a lot as well., so I do burn most of what I consume.
Eat fresh, stay away from pre-packaged & processed foods. You might try eating the same thing every day. Once that becomes routine, you can sustitute some things. Good luck.

this sounds like what my sister who is a personal trainer has said to me , eat from the earth and limit if not avoid all processed food. What do hemp hearts taste like? I tried hemp protein and really did not like the taste.
I beleive I need to increase my breakfast as I have been excercising every morning and burning close to 400 cal , by th eend of the day I have no engery at all and my scale has not moved at all this week. After doing some reading it that I have come to the conculsion that my body is trying to hold on to the fat it has because it is taking the reduced calorie level as an insult ot my body , perhaps I can fool it by having a higher calorie breakfast.

Hemp hearts have a nutty flavour. You need to give them 2 weeks though to get used to the extra oil & fiber; that can make expelling pretty slick, if you know what I mean! Make sure your yogurt is plain and has no gelatin. I buy an Astro brand. I wasn;t keen on plain yogurt at 1st, but I stuck with it and can't eat the other stuff now!
Breakfast is my largest caloric intake in the day at the time when my body needs it the most. I agree with your sister on eating wholesome foods. I eat a lot of soup in the winter. Easy to make, and have food for the week!

Hi, Figler...
The dietician in B'hurst told me that I should be eating around 1200 calories. On some days I think I do, but I don't count calories so I couldn't say for sure. I follow Weigh****chers, so I follow the points. But then again, I don't usually reach my goal points. Well now. That was extremely unhelpful, wasn't it...? :)
I would say 1200 is low, and not sustainable, but maybe it depends on your level of restriction...?
