Doing everything wrong!
Thanks to Dr. B and his team I had my wake up call today. When I came off the liquid diet over xmas my hubby and I decieded to separate and I have been eating my feelings.
So, I am on liquids for the next 5 days to see if I can get a fresh start. Just because the scales are going down doesn't mean I am getting healthier.
Messed up, and confessing....they say it's good for the soul!
Confessions are good so keep it up! I am happy that Dr. Beau and his team woke you up. Do this for you girl! No one else! I'll join you on the liquid diet this week! My stoma is upset with me not sure why. I just tried chicken and it's all upset so I decided liquids for me for a few days!
Throw all that pop out of your house!!! :)
I poured out all the pop from the fridge then my girl brought some home tonight, and like an addict I had a drink. Then I poured it out too.
Dr. B was so good, everyone was supportive. I just hope I can find the courage to stop beating myself up. I thought as long as the scale was going down that I would be alright. Guess not!
That is what we are all on this site for help.It must be hard for you.hang in there and no pop. After a few times not having it you wont want it.

The key is to learn how to use your band so it works for you. You mentioned you did not know about the soda, isn’t this covered during the info session? Either way you should never touch any carbonated beverages, such as soda, beer, champagne, or carbonated water. Some surgeons believe it can stretch your pouch, which you do not want. You are not allowed to drink & eat at the same time either. There are many lapband rules and it takes awhile to wrap your head around all of them, but you’ll get there. One rule at a time.
There is this one book, I don’t remember the name, but I re-read it constantly because it is such a good book. I’ll check the name and give it to you later. It has all the rules in there and even patient testimonials. I got it at Chapters in
The gastric band is not an easy solution to weight loss and I have seen some folks really struggle at this surgery (not on this board though, support really helps!). The key is truly to listen to your surgical team, get support, get fills, and listen to your body. Take it from someone who has not had a sip of soda since surgery, you don’t miss it after while. My husband is a soda addict and he often sits beside me with a cold one and there are times when I feel like taking a big gulp, but overall I can’t say it bothers me anymore. I no longer miss all those fast food demons I used to face before surgery.
This is a very hard time for you because you are going through two major life altering experiences at once (separation & surgery) but you need to think positive and try to not let your separation affect your weight loss journey. No one expects you to be perfect (and I haven’t been trust me!) but you need to truly be willing to change your habits to succeed.
First month after surgery, I was very depressed. They say anesthetics can do that to you, I’m not sure of the culprit but I kept seeing food commercials and thought I would never enjoy
food again and it made me so depressed I sat on my couch, cried and regretted the surgery. Finally one day I got dressed, put my makeup, and decided I would no longer cry for something that was killing me.
Funny thing is I was completely wrong. Dare I say that I enjoy food more now that I chew and really taste what I eat? I think it is really great that you are able to come on this board and be honest.
If ever you need to talk, please PM me.

Just trying on step at a time, but I must admit I am very niave about the lap band and did no research before the surgery. I didn't believe it would ever happen after being put on a waiting list in 2002. Guess I had better fix that and get to know my band.
I look forward to getting the title of that book, I do need to read and make myself aware. Proud you don't feel the fast food demons and pop demons calling, and I am trying to ignore mine. I will try harder.
The truth is you do not know what you are getting into until you have the band inside you so it’s certainly not too late to get acquainted! I researched the band for two years before the actual surgery and I’m still learning new things every day and I’m sure I have a whole lot to learn still.
I used to eat fast food every day. I am not kidding, every single day I used to eat a combo from some where’s. I was addicted to it and it made me happy. I would get upset at my husband if he didn’t want fast food. Fast food and soda used to live my life and now I’m living my life instead and you can do it to!
It will take awhile to get rid of the demons and you may cry (I did and I cursed every food commercial on TV) but now I couldn’t care less about it at all. It sounds very typical, but once your mind is programmed, you won’t even notice a commercial or you will drive by at McDonald’s without even giving it a second glance.
The book is the below:
I really liked it and still reference it every once and awhile!

That is all I can think of.....
