Hey fellow WLS peoples, so I was originally on Dr.B's list since Aug/07 and had given up hope so was referred to Dr. S. As it appears Dr. S won't be doing the DS in near future, and I received a call for an appt with Dr. B I decided to get the RNY instead. I had my appt on Monday this week and have my info session this coming Tuesday so very exciting. Just wanted to let you all know what was happening and don't know how to change my Dr. on my profile so advice anyone? Thanks

Congratulations Trish, I just had my information session with Dr B's team this past Tuesday and it was very informative be prepared for it being the whole day from 8:30am until about 4:30 or so.  It is a long wait to get your first consult with Dr B I was on his list since 2005 and finally had my first consult with him the first week of December or so and then my information session was Jan 12th.  Actually I had my first consult set for November past but was rescheduled because of the H1N1.  Once you have your information session it shouldn't be too much longer after that for your surgery...realisticly could be up to another 6 months...but for me I can handle that as I know I will be done this year some time.  My wait is over finally and so is yours....I am happy for you..

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts, it has been a long stretch but we are on the way now. I am not sure how to feel now that it is, nervous and excited I guess and very ready for a change. I am about 3 hours away and so will have to leave super early for my session but hoping that adrenaline will carry me through the day. Good luck on your journey and I am sure we will be talking along the way.

That's wonderful news. It sounds like Dr B's waiting time is getting much shorter.

Dr. B said that alot going to Dr. S has helped to take some of the pressure off. It makes those of us waiting happier anyway! Thanks for staying on the board, it has gotten alot quieter lately for sure. The support is wonderful

I have noticed the same thing about the board. I think Christmas & New years had something to do with it. I am hopping folfs get more active when new people have surgery. I noticed that people come out of the woodwork when there is a plea for support. I find I don't have a lot of energy for the board right now but I still try to check in and post most days. i still need support too as I am a long way from my goal.

Hi there! Yes the RNY is the gastric bypass, just another name as there are quite a few types of gastric bypass. Don't get discouraged by the wait for Dr. Savoie, most of us have waited over 2 years just for our first consults, some as much as 4 or 5. He is still doing the lapband surgery and may be starting another one soon, just not the DS from what I can understand. Because I feel the band is not right for me, I decided to get the RNY with Dr. Beausoleil in Dieppe Moncton. I did wait for 2 1/2 years to get to see him though. You are doing great on your own so far, 14 lbs are better than gaining so keep up the good work. Every pound lost is a success!  Keep your hope up, your turn will come.
