DS covered out of country???

Just a question...

Does anyone know of any case where the DS was covered out of country by Medicare in NB??

Is it covered out of country/provice if you live in another province??

I've had no luck finding anyone in Canada who does DS.  I've received two letters from NB Medicare advising me that a surgeon would have to first recommend that DS is my only option...(good luck getting that)  I've discovered its a very difficult medical and political system.  Sorry for my negativity I'm just a bit frustrated today but wanted to answer your note...

As far as I know Medicare will go out of province but not out of country.

In addition to Kitty_mom's reply, I THINK they will only do you in a hospital as well - not a private clinic.

 In Manitoba they cover out of province anywhere in Canada only for DS or RNY, they well not cover lapband. They have covered out of country, but it is a huge fight because they figure RNY is good for everyone. I know that does not help you just thought I would share.  I don't understand why WLS has to be such a difficult journey. We need a big political person on our side!!! Anyone know of such a person?
