I could not figure out how to post to you guys before this duhh.I was writing things in the blog section and just figured no one had time to reply.

The weight is not coming off like I thought it would. As far as I can tell I have not lost anything this week. I weigh myself two -three times a day.

I find I do not know what to eat I still have a week on pureed I started back to work and by lunch I was starving. I had a boost for breakfast and a yogurt at snack time but at 12 my stomach was growling .  At lunch I toasted a piece of bread actually burnt a piece of bread put peanut butter on it and chewed it to death it was not pureed but by the time I shallowed it was pretty much just liquid.

I bought some egg creations and I plan on making them for supper and I have applesauce for this afternoon. I plan on following the food for life diet starting next week when I can begin to eat solids.

I just can not understand why the weight is not falling off. I am really bummed today, gave up all the christmas treats and still the scale has not moved.

Hang in there, it will work in time.  In my puree stage, I took a boneless, skinless chicken breast and poached it. Once cooked, I put the breast, and the broth in the blender. I also cooked carrots & turnips, pureed those together. When I wanted to eat, I would simply mix the two together and warm it up in the microwave. I also ate, and still eat, a lot of soup. I use chicken, hulled barley which you can buy from the health food section of the grocery store, carrots & celery. I make a large pot on the weekend and have it all week. Ryvita makes something called Snackbread. I buy mine at Walmart; I use this as a bread replacement.

In the last couple of weeks, I have discovered hemp hearts. I put 5 TBSP of them in my 1/2 cup of yogurt and 1/2 cup of fruit. Great source of protein & omega oils; that carries me through to the afternoon actually. If you pureed the fruit, you should be able to have that.

I am a firm believer in whole foods. Most pre-packaged food had loads of preservatives, additives, sodium and stuff that humans were just not meant to eat! LOL!! When you make yourself from scratch, you know exactly what you're getting, and not getting!

As soon as you can, get moving. Exercise is a vital part of this journey. No one said it would be easy, bit it can be done.

Aww don’t get discouraged. You are so early in your journey!

If there is one thing I can recommend, is stop getting on that scale so often! If you weight yourself once or twice a day, then it’s 100% certain the scale will not go fast enough because you aren’t giving it the time to!

I weight once every two weeks, sometimes I wait even longer. That way when I get on, I’ve lost 3 or 4 pounds, not 0.1 pound which would discourage me!

It’s normal before your 1st fill to be starving. I was starving a lot at first and kept lightly salted almonds at my desk for when I would get hunger stricken. Protein is the key. I eat protein, protein, protein and even more protein. It keeps you full and helps you stay on track.

Another thing, no matter what, keep positive! My positive attitude has really helped me achieve my success. This is a slow weight loss process but it’s worth it and YOU are worth it. Challenge yourself and keep motivated no matter how long it takes to lose that weight. The weight will not just fall off I'm afraid! I had to work really hard and I still have a long way to go and YOU can do it too!

Thank you for your kind words a coworker gave me some protein poweder today made from hemp that has 14 grams of protein in two tlbs I am goning to try it tomorrow in oatmeal for breakfast.

And I have a new theme song the climb by miley cirus. I walked for 30 mins on my treadmill tonight so I am in a better place tonight.

I am mad at myself when I learned about my lap band approval I gained 22 pounds so at this point I am still ahead by about 5 pounds. I thought I would have time to lose the weight before surgery but I got my call less then two weeks before I was done I had waited for 4 years so I did not want to put it off.

I may be repeating what others said but....
Get protein at every meal. Minimum of 60mg per day.
Drink 1.5 liters of water per day.

I think almost everyone goes through the same thing when they are on the post-op diet. Your body has been starved and it is grabbing every calorie trying to save you from the FAMINE. Also you bowels were empty after the liquid diet. Start solid food, even if it is pureed and you bowel fill up- couple of pounds there too. This stage is about recovery, not weight loss.

Finally- where do I find hemp powder?

Couple of things

1)  The weight is not coming off like I thought it would - what were you expecting with respect to weight loss? The average is 1-2 lbs / week with the lapband. I remember being disappointed in the beginning as well but it WILL all work out if you stay the course. Anything above 2 lbs a week is a BONUS!

2) I weigh myself two -three times a day - why? The only thing that's going to do is drive you crazy. The body can fluctuate (and usually does!) by POUNDS throughout the course of a day. Once a week is PLENTY!

3) it's really dangerous to progress too soon. Bread - no matter what you tell yourself about chewing it to death - is NOT a puree. Sorry :) With logic like that, anything could be. You know? Please be vigilant and stick to your post op instructions. They are there for a reason - one that neither you nor I can understand but they are doctors. We're just lowly laypeople :)
The other thing I always say is if we break the rules this early into the game, chances are we are going to break them go foward. As hard as it is, it is CRITICAL to set a good foundation in the beginning.

Thanks I was in a funk yesterday , I have decided not to weigh myself daily I am going to try once a week , and I have gone back completly to the post opt diet,  but instead of drinking my meals ie boost I am having pureed ie oatmeal for breakfast etc and I got back  on my treadmill last night. As for the diet I think I have read to many sites ie different docs with different diets but rather than push things I am looking forward to salad next week. Next week I am joing food for life to help with food choices. I have lost 17.5 pounds to date, lost 5 pounds before surgery and then   lost  11  in the first two weeks  after surgery so was disappointed  when it slowed to 1.5 lbs the third week.

Good for you. It took me 5 WEEKS to lose 15 lbs post op, so breathe in and out :) It will come off in time - just keep your eyes on the prize. I lost 100 lbs a year to the day and really that's what matters isn't it? Not week by week ... but the overall "prize".

Have a SUPER day ! You're doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your body is adjusting to all the changes. After starving for weeks, your weight will go up. I was unable to eat for about 3 weeks and my weight jumped 2 pounds after 24 hours....and I hadn't eaten a lot either. It is normal to get in a funk post-op. I think we all do. We also have to face the fact that a big PERMANENT change has happened.  I think most of us have to go through the "OMG what have I done!!" stage too.
