For Dr S DSers

I got horrible news today. I called the bariatric clinc on Friday because I have been having galstone attacks. I wanted to see how long before DS starts as the doctors dont want me to have two surgeries until the stones get so bad I cant handle the pain, She talked to Dr. S today and called me back. He told her he will not be starting DS surgeries for another year.

I waited two years to see the specialist you needed to see before you saw Dr B and have waited 4yrs to see Dr B. When I called Dr B's office last year she said it would be another 5 year wait, I dont know how I slipped through the cracks. Having said that now I have decided on the DS surgery it is so hard to change and get in the mind frame do switch to a different one.

Oh and to complain more I found a lump in my breast. My doctor sent papers to the hospital for me to have an urgent mammogram and still havent heard from them and it has been almost two weeks. :(

I feel like jumping off the freaking bridge, only my luck I would just float.

No she just said he wouldnt be starting them for a year. :(

 Is that a year or did they mean next year like 2010?? Or 2011??

What I heard is that they won't start the DS (or staff training****il the next fiscal year. The year end is March 31st.

That sucks big time. Crap - all that waiting!!! Hang in there girl! good things come to those who wait!

Thanks for the update....and sometimes I too feel like jumping off that same bridge...and of course with all the extra fat I have, my "floatation devices" would most definitely keep me afloat...lol

Dr S is not taking any new referrals or doing any new first appointments because he is going to be taking people off of Dr B''s waiting list to get it down to a reasonable wait time. i also read somewhere that the DS is on hold by the province for financial reasons.  I know that doesn't make any sense...very short sighted. In the mean time, all the people who are the most obese and have very expensive health care needs, are waiting and costing them more everyday. That's like bailing a leaking boat with sieve....you are still sinking.

Sorry to hear about your gall bladder attacks.

Oh dear, that is horrible news for you DS'ers. My cousin is also on my wait list. I can't imagine how it must feel to have waited that long. This reminds me, I need to contact DR. B to get my name of his list. I'm sure his list is longer than it actually is.

I will keep you in my thoughts. Also, awful to hear about your gallbladder hopefully this can be rectified shortly.
