I see Mary C has asked a couple of times but there has been no answer. How is Cat? Is she home from the hospital? Is she feeling better? Does she not want to talk about it? She was a frequent poster and I miss her. I am concerned about her. Any news?

Hello Everyone , I hope all of you had a wonderful Xmas & going to have a Happy New Year !
I have been so sick , I could not have used the computer , or talked on the phone . My strength was completely gone & I lost all my desire to use it. I think last week I started using this once in a while .
I was in the hopital for over a month , & I have have been home for 3 weeks . I still have 2 pumps in my stomach , pumping out all the poison that I still have. When I had emergency surgery , the surgeon pumped out 6 liters of posion & I Have had pumps in since. I guess Dr,S punctured my bowel & the lining of the stomach .......while I was still in Bathurst after surgery, I had a temp & was severly dehydrated , they did bolus IV. So I was in there 3 days. From there on it got worse.
The surgeon told me it 50% chance that I would make it through. He told my DH that I prpbably would NOT make it through the night . So the family was called in . I lost several weeks , that I remember nothing.
Oh, the first thing the surgeon did was take the band out...........he told me that it had twisted as well.
So, I hope that this clears up some things .

I am so very very sorry for all that you have to endure - you are a very strong lady and I am so thankful - as I am sure your family and friends are too that you are here to tell your story on the other side.
Just try -as hard as it is to take one day at a time and I am sure mentally there will be sometimes that you have to go a moment at a time but please look after yourself.
I will continue to keep you in my prayers and I am here to listen anytime you need to vent- so pm me or email or I can certainly call you - you have been to hell and back and you certainly will take time to heal - both physically and mentally from this horrible experience- big hugs and know that I will be thinking of you - we all have been so worried about you.

Thanks Ladies. I still mourn over not having the band . I waited so long & went through the surgery. I have a surgery line from above my breastbone to my belly button. It was stapled , I think over 50 of them. I have lost some weight , I didn't eat for a month . Then when I could I had to go to liquids etc. Then I lost my appetite all together , I wouldn't eat a thing. I was constant;y nauseated (which I am still fighting) . I don't feel good a lot of the time.
Reading some of your posts , most of you are doing good. Keep up the good work .

My God, Cat, it's good to hear from you. I don't come on here very often because it just depressed me, truth be told. I know how you feel about not having the band. You'll get over it eventually. I can't believe what happened to you. It scares the bejesus out of me. You will get through this, promise!! It will take a while for your appetite and energy to come back so be patient with yourself.
As far as the damn band goes, it has recently hit me that it just wasn't meant to be for me. I have too many stomach and intestinal problems and to add that would probably make things worse. Fortunately, I've been able to keep my weight off so I'm under 200, but just under. So I wouldn't qualify any longer. I haven't canceled my referral to Quebec, I'll leave that in case I have a change of heart, AGAIN!
I had stomach surgery a few years back and developed infection and was in intensive care for about 2 weeks. It was the worst time of my life...I feel for you, girl! I don't think I have recovered from that yet. They left me wide open to allow the wound to close itself so they could pack it everyday. My hubbie did it for me after we came home, along with the home care nurses! Every once in a while I get angry and threaten to sue the dr but it passes. I do believe it was dr error. My surgeon went on vacation and the other surgeon in town basically ignored me, although he was asked to follow me closely. My surgeon was peeved when he returned to find me in that condition. I guess drs are human but to think that happened to you is beyond belief!!
