I just had my band, and am reading about fills, restrictions etc...and it all sounds scary.  Do you have enough energy to get through the day?  The pain sounds awful.  I hope your feeling better soon.  Take care!

Food shouldn't hurt- with or without restriction. Are you taking very small bits and chewing very well? If you are and all food hurts, you are too tight and you won't get the protein you need. Too tight is not good for weight loss.

In fact, it usually leads to weight gain.

You know what, the food when it goes down hurts, but u know what I LOVE IT it means my band is starting to freguen work, hehe

Its also my own fault Im not used to eating slower, chew chew chew ans smaller bites, so that my own fault, Im trying to adjust right now.
I can still eat some foods, but I gotta follow the rule carefully now.
Before I could of swallowed all my food whole and it wouldnt of mattered, not now and Im so happy.
I gotta take smaller bites, relax after each bite and chew .......
It will not make me gain weight, as I cant eat very much maybe a cup or so of dfood, which is the normal and what we should eat with the band anyways..

Cecile - I have to agree here with Charline - you shouldn't be experiencing pain.  It doesn't mean the band is "working" it means you need to figure out how to solve this problem.  The lap band is a means to an end, and part of the "journey" is learning new habits and looking at food in a healthy way - not as the enemy.

Smaller bites will certainly help - it's something we all struggle with.  From gobbling to mindful chewing - it's a huge leap!  If your pain is b/c you're finding it difficult to remember to chew, then being mindful will help.  In the meantime remember to be careful b/c if you continue to feel pain that isn't a good thing!  Nobody wants to stretch their stoma!

Take care :)

Hi Cecile - I'm not a "bandster" - but know enough to know you shouldn't be expereincing pain. Just think about it - if you have pain - something is being stretched and stressed - which over the long term - may cause damage. Here's to pain free days for you!

Tks for the reply every 1
Im not experiencing pain, its my own fault, Im not used to eat smaller bites, and chew chew chew, so if i dont do it.... i get stuck a bit , nothing too serious, the food after a few minutes clears...
I know its not dangerous , just means that my band is restricte... yeehaaa.
i CANT seem to eat too much in the mornings, so I eat a yogurt or smoothie seems to work and you knwo waht Ive finally lost anotehr 5 pounds since tuesday which was my fill day.
I juswt got to learn to relax when i eat , slowly take small small bites , chew and take a few minutesw each bites, im just not used to it, thats all.,
nothing allarming.... im fine people, thanks to being conserned, Im taking care of myself.

cheers.
