I may have hit a snag...
I know I don't post much on here, single moming it while hubby is away for a year is pretty tough, anf full time job plus a girl guide leader and I sell AVON too...LOL...
I may have hit a snag that will delay my surgery...I signed my consent with Dr B in Sept, but my health care provider, although runs the same as NB medicare, may need more proof that this surgery is what I need before they will pay for it...
I'm an active fat person (if that is even possible), and my full time job is in military at Base Gagetown. I have researched this and bariatric surgery is covered by the military, with the same conditions as prov health (BMI over 35 with co-morbidities or over 40). When I was initally referred tho, in 2004, it wasn't (as it wasn't covered by prov health then either). My doc on base said that one medical officer was wiling to sign off on the approval, but was only an "acting" MO, and wasn't comfortable making that kind of decision as the acting...(grrr). She has documented all my struggles, and she is behind me 100%. I have an appt with her next week, for part 2 of my medical (done every 5 yrs for us), and hope to find out then where it stands...
My part one medical was this morning, and my BMI is currently 41.6. I was borderline last June, at 39.8.
I'm pretty sure that this will be a go, but after waiting all this time, I hate to have a delay. The nurses from Dr B's office suggested surgery would be Dec or Jan...and the reference did say that this surgery would have to go up to Ottawa for final auth from the Director of Med Policy...
I so want to be on the losers bench!! I admit to being a bit discouraged and disheartened...tho I try really hard not to show it...
Thanks all for listening...
