Just wondering if anyone has heard anything yet? I'm just waiting as patiently as possible for my first consult. Hope everyone has a good weekend...

Are you waiting for a band or DS?  Have you had your first consult yet?

The province has not approved funding for DS....I heard that it isn't going to be approved until next fiscal year (after April 1)

Really? If you don't mind me asking, where did you hear this information? I'm just curious because it's the first bit of info that makes sense as to why there's a hold-up for the DS surgery.

Dr. S tells people that they're going to be done in a few months time, and the receptionist tells people that there's red tape holding things back, so people don't know who to believe, so it's nice to finally hear some news.  I just find it so strange to that he'd go ahead to see people, and not have the province give the go-ahead. I just hope that NB will go like Ontario, and not approve the sugery because that would just be... well... I can't put it into words.

Hi

I fund this. Hope it helps

Thank you for contacting the Surgical Weight Loss Centre (SWLC) in Mississauga, Ontario.
However, due to a recent announcement by the Ministry of Health in New Brunswick, residents are eligible for coverage of the Lap-Band Program only.  In order to be eligible for coverage you must receive pre-approval from the Ministry before having Lap-Band surgery.  The surgery must be performed in a public hospital in New Brunswick.  According to information that was made available to us the wait time for the procedure in New Brunswick is approximately five years.  The New Brunswick Ministry of Health will not fund the procedure if it is performed outside of New Brunswick.  If you are interested in obtaining more information on having the procedure at our facility in Ontario, please do not hesitate to request a free consultation with one of our surgeons.  We have trained physicians in New Brunswick and other locations in the Maritimes to make the post operative band adjustments more accessible to our New Brunswick patients.  Gastric Balloon procedures are not covered by New Brunswick funding.

Big Mike
